Young Girl, They Call Them the Diamond Dogs

Avatar-Bizarre---They-Call-Them-the-Diamond-Dogs

When I heard about a David Bowie inspired event in Second Life, my first thought was, “I hope they’re still taking applications!”. My second thought was, “Who cares? I’m applying anyway!” Then the third thought was, “Even if the event is full already, I’m still making this thing!”

It turns out I got in just under the wire for this event, and the item I had started to make while I was hoping to get into the event was coming together quickly and nicely. You see, I’m a huge fan of David Bowie, and I’ve been making Bowie inspired outfits in Second Life for years.

Only this time I had an actual excuse, other than typical fan boy stuff. Now it’s been sanctioned by an event with deadlines and everything.

InspirationsSL is an event that uses various celebrities as inspiration for merchants. This round excites me quite a lot, because Bowie is a constant source of inspiration for my own creations.

Avatar-Bizarre---No-one-else-I'd-rather-be

Diamond Dogs, inspired by Bowie’s Halloween Jack period (That short bit between Ziggy Stardust and Plastic Soul) is a fitted mesh creation, made for the SLink Physique bodies, though they do fit regular default Second Life avatars pretty well. There’s a male version, and a female/femboy version available, and both have been materials enhanced. Both come with a color HUD and an unrigged scarf.

To top things off, or maybe to bottom them off…they are boots after all, the Future Legend boots are sold separately, but were made to work with this outfit. The boots are fitted mesh and the package contains versions for both male, and female/femboy. The boots, like the outfit, have a color HUD and an alpha.

Both of these items are available at the InspirationsSL event, opening on June 19.  A landmark will be posted in a few days.

Welcome to Sherwood – A Sneak Preview

Robin-Hood-at-the-Forest-of-Dreams
Fantasy Faire is nearly upon us!  This is the premiere event for all things fantasy and Relay for Life.  Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to once again be involved with the Fantasy Faire, and has several items for sale, starting April 21 (Faire opens at 9am, slt).

Robin Hood is a well-known and beloved legend.  Everyone knows he robbed from the rich, and gave to the poor, surrounded by his Merry Men.  He spent a lot of time getting the better of the Sheriff of Nottingham, and also managed to get the girl.

Robin-Hood-Relaxing-in-the-Forest-of-Dreams
The Robin Hood is a versatile costume for anyone wishing to play in the forests of Merry Olde England, or any forest full of Faerie folk, dragons, and knights in shining armor.  The bandit outfit includes five sizes for the rigged mesh doublet, system shirts and pants in eight colors, plus an OMEGA clothing appliers HUD for mesh bodies (please be sure your body is supported by OMEGA before you buy this outfit).  There’s also a plumed hat, and alpha.

The boots pictured are “Gawain Boots with color HUD”.  These are rigged and unrigged.  All mesh items are materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.

A Fantasy of Fever Dreams – Zaahn Preview

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-VThe lone traveler contemplated his fate.  He had been forcefully sent to a desolate and eerie island, where little made sense.  The carnival was deserted, and little wonder why.  The clown statues littering the grounds appeared sinister and dangerous.  They loomed through the mist, menacing grimaces that must have delighted once, though he doubted it.  He didn’t like clowns.  It was a trust issue; you couldn’t feel safe around a creature with a grin that wide, yet so dark and wretched inside.

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-IIIThe traveler was undaunted by the menacing clown as he attempted a trick he’d learned long ago.  He was surprised to learn he still had the strength for the trick on a stack of chairs.  Still, that clown…  A trickle of cold sweat coursed down the back of his neck.  With a lurch, he tumbled off the chair and rolled away from that clown in haste.  Why are there so many clowns?  Why won’t that incessant creepy laughter die down?

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-IIHe’d had enough.  He left the carnival and wandered the rest of the lonely island till he came upon a dead tree.  “How can I get off this wretched island?” he thought miserably.  “Can’t sleep.  Clowns will eat me.”

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-IVThe Zaahn is Avatar Bizarre’s latest creation.  Available soon at Fantasy Faire, it includes 5 standard sizes, system layer underpants in all colors, an Omega pants applier for mesh bodies, and an alpha.  The boots are available as a separate item, and also include a color HUD with all the color options, and two sizes (male/female).  Everything has been materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.  Zaahn will be available for men and for women.

Coming soon! Watch this space for landmarks and announcements.

Fantastic Planet

Avatar-Bizarre-Martian-Colonist-Uniform-IIAt first, the colonists arrived on Mars as small crews aboard the fleet of rocket ships.  They fled their home world, which was devastated by atomic pollution.  Once properly terraformed, Mars was a popular destination, a new frontier; vast amounts of land for the taking, plenty of room for everyone, except…

They hadn’t counted on Martians getting in their way.  Peaceful though they were, the indigenous people wouldn’t give up their home to the human invasion easily.  Eventually, the conflict became vicious, but who is to say which people would inherit the red sands of Mars.  Men were the aliens, my friends.  But what else could they do?  Earth was no longer inhabitable.  They needed a new home.  It’s simply unfortunate the Martians wouldn’t let us have what they felt was rightfully theirs for the taking…

Avatar-Bizarre-Martian-Colonist-UniformAvatar Bizarre has remade the original Martian Colonist Uniform for female avatars.  Like the male version, this uniform comes in standard sizing, includes a color HUD with seven colors, and is resplendent in opalescent materials shine.  The boots are separate, and also come with a color HUD.  They are unrigged, so you can resize them as needed.

 Grabilla screen capture:
The colors included on the HUD are Red, Green, Teal, Blue, Purple, Black, and White.

The Martian Colonist is available inworld and on the Marketplace.

Boots are also available.

These Boots Are Made For Walking (In A Winter Wonderland)

Avatar Bizarre Snow Cutter Boots

While shuffling around waiting for El Niño to do more than drizzle a fine mist over the land, a winter fantasy started to emerge in my drought-stricken brain.  What if it actually snowed where I live?  What if?  Then I realized, “Hey, it’s snowing somewhere in Second Life!”

What do you need when you’re tramping around in the snow?  Snow boots, of course!

Avatar Bizarre Snow Cutter Boots - Winter Wonderland

Avatar Bizarre Snow Cutter Boots are the perfect Wintery treat for the footwear enthusiast.  Not only do they look fantastic on just about anyone, but each package includes a male rigged pair, a female/femboy rigged pair, and an unrigged pair for folks who want to resize things.  The color HUD gives you the option of eight different colors, and there’s an extra couple sets of chained claws (unrigged) that can be added to the rigged boots.

These have been materials enhanced for a little extra oomph! and an alpha is included for non-mesh avatars.  These definitely fit the Male SLink Physique, as long as you use the included alpha utilities HUD for that avatar.

Available on the Marketplace and Inworld.

Everything I Do I Do For You – Fantasy Fair Sneak Preview

https://i1.wp.com/i.gyazo.com/059c2ae08e57821c4b7f6e755cf9f5fa.png

Avatar Bizarre has, by some amazing circumstances, and a bit of applying, made it into this year’s Second Life Fantasy Faire, an event created to raise money and awareness for Relay for Life.  To be fair, there have been a couple of sneak previews as yours truly jumped the gun and started making stuff just in case.  Enthusiasm, coupled with that elusive Inspiration has resulted in a few new things.

You already got a sneak preview of the Goblin King and the Boudica Armor.  Now let me give you a taste of the Goblin Queen!  Of course this is mostly because my lovely model (pictured above and below) is champing at the bit for a picture or two.  The Goblin Queen, like the King in a previous post, is going to be available in seven colors and includes the pants and jacket (plus alphas) and shoulder armor (one shoulder).

If you’re itching for just the jacket, don’t worry!  The jackets for the Queen and King will be available solo with a Color change HUD (all seven colors), plus the shoulder armor and requisite alpha.

In other news, there’s a set of boots for both King and Queen available.  The boots will include a rigged and an unrigged pair, plus Color change HUD.  All pieces in the ensemble are materials enhanced. Demos will be available for everything, so please feel free to try them out!

OI OI OI! Stompy Punk Boots

AB Seeth Ransom Boots with Color HUD

As homage to a by-gone era of three chord music, laced up leather boots, mohawks, and plaid zippery pants, Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to present the latest in an ever growing line of mesh footwear for men and women.

The Seeth Ransom Boots hearken back to the days when we all reveled in TV Party, TV Eye, and TV Casualty; a time when the Dead Kennedys demanded that MTV get off the air.  Eerily reminiscent of our beloved eight hole Doc Martins, these boots are deliciously simple, shiny, and stompy.  They were built for both genders, so come to you modify and copy, so you can get these bad boys to fit.

AB Seeth Ransom Boots with Color HUD

The beauty of these boots is the color change HUD, which allows you to switch between six different colors.  And as long as you have advanced lighting enabled, the shine and bumpiness of the leather will pop.  Even without materials enabled, these are pretty stunning boots for all occasions.

The Seeth Ransom Boots are now available at the main store location, and on the Marketplace.

Velvet Goldmine, you stroke me like the rain
Snake it, take it, Panther Princess, you must stay
Velvet Goldmine, naked on your chain
I’ll be your King Volcano right for you again and again
My Velvet Goldmine” – D. Bowie

A few decades ago, there lived an alien by the name of Ziggy Stardust.  He had a flaming red mullet, a skin tight lycra catsuit wardrobe, a flair for theatrics, and some stunningly amazing platform boots.  He was quite the character; brought to Earth to become a rock star, and ultimately destroyed by his fans.  He was androgynous, and sexual, and the he was the Nazz with God-Given ass.  David Bowie brought him to life in 1972, and we were treated to a great rock and roll spectacle that included all the Glam style and music that you could possibly handle, and then you were given more.  Ziggy’s cohorts included the street walkin’ cheetah with a heart full of napalm, Iggy Pop; and the man who hustled his way through the Wild Side, Lou Reed.  Together, the three created a scene that was bred of Andy Warhol’s Factory parties, and thrust into the unsuspecting public like a glitter-encrusted juggernaut of awesome.

Some time later, a movie was made that would ultimately capture some of the history of these three, though it was thinly veiled as a fictional account of a rock star’s life.   Brian Slade (more or less David Bowie, in the guise of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers), met his best friend Curt Wild (Ewan MacGregor) in America, and many drug induced glam hyjinx ensued.

To commemorate the movie, the song, and David Bowie (though word on the street is he really hated the movie), Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to inflict the World of Glam into the male avatar side of Second Life with the Curt Wild Platform Boots.

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/04906-6eb7bed6-e62b-4ee3-9310-bd123ef1ea78.png

These boots are 100% original unrigged mesh, and are available in seven glitzy colors.  For those with Advanced Lighting turned on, there’s also a material shine with a contrasting color flickering across the plastic feel of these boots.  In true Plastic Fantastic Androgynous fashion, these boots work for male and female avatars.

They are available inworld at Avatar Bizarre, and on the Marketplace.  Simply do a search for Avatar Bizarre, and you will find them!

And if you’re on Reddit, there’s a nifty subreddit called r/sl.  Check it out!
