Omega Man

Avatar-Bizarre-Omega-Man

It was time, I thought.  Time to drink the Kool-aid of the mesh body parts revolution, and get a mesh head.  For a while, I kept thinking about how I’d hate to look like everyone else by wearing a mesh head.  To some degree, this may yet be true, because anyone wearing the same skin on a LOGO head may look like an evil twin.

Them’s the breaks.  However, the head had grown on me to the point where taking it off and seeing what’s underneath is quite the shock.

But I digress.  Several days of trying out every male head out there, and being horrified at the sheer number of heads that either made me look like Ron Perlman, or Bruce Willis in an extremely bad mood, plus the vast majority that simply looked as if they’d been squinting at the sun a little too long (seriously, what’s with the squinting little piggy eyes, guys?), I finally chose the LOGO Ethan head.

It does have a few drawbacks, but overall, I’m pretty happy with it.  Of course, the first thing that had to happen, once the skin was applied was to fix the eyes.  LOGO head has a HUD that includes several eye colors, but I wasn’t all that thrilled with any of them, and decided it was time to make my own.

As it happens, LOGO heads are now Omega compatible.  As I make a ton of eyes anyway, it was a simple matter of creating a few HUDs with the eye textures.

For now, there are five sets of Omega eye appliers for the LOGO head (and possibly others, but I can’t vouch for all the heads out there.

The eyes in the picture are the Omega applier Wolf Eyes.  I think there’s probably eight or nine colors on the HUD.  Don’t quote me, because it was late at night when I made the HUDs and it’s kind of early in the morning now.  In any case, all Omega eye applier HUDs are 120L.  Currently, you will find the Saralonde, Honey Glow, Wolf, Deer, and Apophis eyes available inworld and on the Marketplace.

If you have any requests for eyes, let me know.

And now for my next pony trick, I’ll be attempting facial hair.  Wish me luck!

Chaos Will Swallow the Sun – Fantasy Faire Sneak Preview #3

“Out of Chaos comes Order.” – Neitsche

Apophis, also known as Apep, is the God of Chaos and Destruction in Ancient Egypt.  He is the serpent that threatens to swallow the sun.  Imprisoned by one of Ra’s three incarnations, Khepri the Scarab in the underworld known as Duat, the serpent battles Bast in an epic battle that has lasted for millennia.  Should the force of Chaos ever emerge, the world would be cast into a maelstrom of darkness and disorder.  Ma’at, the Goddess of Order balances the Chaos.  One cannot exist without the other.

Avatar Bizarre has a new set of eyes coming out for Fantasy Faire called Apophis.  Apophis Eyes endow your ever changing look with a tiny bit of chaos.  The color HUD included with this set gives you eight color choices with the mesh eyes, plus eight pairs of system eyes for the die-hards out there who prefer old school eyeballs.  Eat set also includes an alpha, and the eyes are materials enhanced for a little extra bit of shine.  The cost for these modify/copy eyes will be 120L.

AB Eyes Dragon Spirit - with Color HUD

There comes a time when you look at your walls full of eyes, and think, “I wonder how the wall would look if I simply made eyes with a color change HUD and just put everything into tidy fat packs?”

Then that time comes, and you realize somewhere in the middle of remaking everything that this is a phenomenally huge project.  You wouldn’t think remaking over thirty sets of eyes would take that long, but apparently, it takes a lot longer than I realized when the project started.  Part of this can be attributed to finding different looks for my model (who is basically just me in different skins and shapes).  A minor issue is having to re-upload a bunch of eye textures because I stupidly made transparent eyes that could sit on a blank sclera texture.  Dumb.  Dumbedy dumb dumb dumb.  Sure, they looked nice at the time, but now I want these eyes to be mesh, and sit against an eye alpha, and one cannot have a hollow head showing behind the irises.  It just looks weird.

AB Eyes Lorelei - with Color HUD

The cool thing about this enormous project is I no longer have to remember the color names after taking pictures of individual eyeballs for vendor ads.  This is particularly nice, since I have a memory like a sieve most days.  This makes it a bit less work in the long run.

AB Eyes Cracked - with Color HUD

Another wondrous side effect of this project is putting stuff on the walls and on the Marketplace takes way, way less time.  So once all thirty plus sets of eyes get made, there will be a bit more room for more new eyes (I have plenty of ideas for new eyes!).

The best part?  You, the eye-loving person looking for these glistening orbs to stick in your head, will only have to make one purchase to get up to 12 pairs of eyes (depending on the style, of course).  Each package includes the System Layer Eyes in all the colors available for that particular set of eyes, plus a set of lovely mesh eyes that are HUD controlled for changing colors.  Oh, and the alpha for the eyes, which makes things look a lot nicer, too.

AB Eyes Demon Lazarus - with Color HUD

If you’re looking for new eyes, all of the Avatar Bizarre eyes are Modify and Copy.  Prices range from 99L for six colors, up to 165L for 12 colors.

You can find these inworld (with more coming as they filter in through the upload box) and on the Marketplace.  For an easy search, look for the Avatar Bizarre store, or you can do a search on NEW 2015, and the eyes should pop up.

Holiday Season Brings a Cornucopia of New Things – Horrorfestive, GxG, Twisted Krissmuss, Etc… Part 1

AB-Morelia

The Holiday season has blundered into our lives once again, and bludgeoned us with all the usual malarkey involving stuff and things and junk and stuff.  Of course, folks in Second Life are not immune to such shenanigans, and merchants are all over the creating opportunities like bees to honey (hey I’m being G-Rated here).

I have been busy peppering Avatar Bizarre with new things, both for general new releases, and for all the various events I’ve signed up for.

The first thing to tell you about, oh my droogs and devotchkas, are the Morelia eyes.
Morelia veridis is the Latin name for the Green Tree Python.  This snake hatches out yellow, red, or brown, and eventually turns emerald green as an adult.  It is non-venomous and diurnal, meaning it’s active during the day, if you can call a snake coiled up in a cinnamon bun of verdant rodent terror “active”.  The Morelia eyes are based on the python’s slit-pupil orbs, and are available in ten colors.  Each set contains three pairs of prim eyes (full bright, normal, and glow), two sets of mesh eyes (normal and full bright), and a pair of system eyes.  All are copy/modify.  These are currently available inworld at the main store location, plus a few pairs at Horrorfestive, which runs for the next couple of weeks in a sim full of horror-inspired items for the holidays.  You can also find them on the marketplace.  The cost for each set is 75L.

These will be great for drow and other elven beings, faerie folk, vampires, draconians, and lycanthropes.

I’ve already mentioned the Ozymandias, to be released for Gothmas by Gaslight, in a previous blog post.  What you don’t know is there are more things to be had at Gothmas by Gaslight!

AB-Lucretia

The Lucretia gown, named after that Sisters of Mercy song we all know and love, is rigged mesh, and will be available in several colors for Gothmas.  It features a velvety skirt with a satin overlay, materials enhanced.  Gothic Victorian is all the rage in some circles, and you’ll be able to get your gown once Gothmas opens on December 15.

And just for fun…

The Really Abominable Snowbeast is a rigged avatar available for 100L during Twisted Krissmuss.  He’s available on the marketplace and inworld at the main store location.  As you can see by the little size chart, he’s a bit taller than a regular Second Life Avatar.  He also comes with his own mesh Santa Hat for flavor.

Alas, my droogs and devotchkas, I have run out of room to tell you more.  Holiday Season Stuffs Part the Second to commence shortly.

And don’t forget to visit Avatar Bizarre for Twisted Krissmuss, Gothmas by Gaslight, and Horrorfestive!

World Goth Fair Goodies Coming Soon!

It’s that time of year again; that auspicious month of May, when the Goths come out in force to raise money for the Sophie Lancaster Foundation in Second Life and in Real Life.  Starting in May, the World Goth Fair will feature dozens of excellent merchants across three sims, each providing wares to help raise money for the charity. Avatar Bizarre is happy to once again be included in this event, and will be debuting some brand new items, plus a gacha item.  A portion of each gacha sale will go to the charity, plus a few choice items will also contribute, so stay tuned!

In addition to the stuff you can buy, there will be live DJs, all kinds of music, and a fair bit of gothy shenanigans.  Gothika will be selling licensed band items in a series of gachas, with proceeds going to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.  At the moment the band list is formidable and awesome, but given how it went last year, there may be even more added to this year’s list.

So on to the nitty gritty here.  Avatar Bizarre has come up with a couple of nifty new items for the fair, and will only be available at the fair for the duration.  Once the fair ends, you will be able to get this stuff at the inworld store location, as well as on the Marketplace.

The first item on the To Be Released list is a new set of mesh eyes.  Each set contains a system eye layer, and mesh eyes in normal, fullbright, and glow.  All eyes are modify and copy.

In Roman legend, the Inferi were a collective of shadowy deities who were associated with death and the underworld. The Inferi represent the gods dark and horrifying nature.

https://i0.wp.com/grabilla.com/04414-79cf473f-82bf-4b2f-877c-75e51bb8d310.png

Inferi Eyes hearken back to dark times, reflecting a human skull in the pupil, and resplendent in ten Stygian colors, including Hazel, pictured above.

Next, we encounter the Cracked Eyes.  A porcelain finish gives these eyes the illusion of having been fired in a kiln.  The brushed on irises sit in the center of a luster of cracked glaze.  Ten colors shine with an antique china polish.

And just for good measure, and because I don’t want to reveal everything at once, there’s the elusive Headalopod, coming soon to a Gacha near you!

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/04414-c75480eb-a321-4b26-bf01-4cff1bdc8227.png

The Headalopod is the latest in fashionable Mollusk noggin wear for the discerning Second Life avatar.  Spawned entirely from mesh, this little creature clings happily to your skull in a variety of different colors.  Don’t let the vacant stare fool you.  This creature spends much of its time plotting ways to over throw the human race.  I, for one, will soon welcome our new Octopus Overlords.

Elves Wear Cloaks and Does Eat Oats, and Little Snakes a Flutter

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/0440f-2e98e4b6-1396-4f72-b717-45eb50a92d19.png

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Avatar Bizarre, what with the new store design, a number of events demanding my attention, and a bunch of new releases!  The line-up of new releases, though long by new release standards, is also oddly varied.  Not only do you get a glimpse of the Elven Pirate Cloak (pictured above), but some Flutter Snakes have been unleashed, along with two different sets of eyes.  Everything is either all or mostly mesh.  All of the stuff is pretty fun, and hopefully will make your shopping trips that much more fun.

The Elven Pirate Cloak is available in six colors.  Each package includes a red-lined cloak, and a silver-lined cloak.  The cowl and shoulder pieces are unrigged mesh, which can be resized as needed.  The cloak itself is traditional flexi prims, simply because a cloak should flow, and it’s pretty hard to get mesh to swing around like a proper cloak should.  Originally, this item was informally suggested to me around Halloween, but I was having some issues trying to get the rigging to work.  Then I got smart and decided not to rig it at all, and it just sort of came together.   Each cloak is 120L, modify and copy.  Available inworld at the moment.  Soon to appear on the Second Life Marketplace.

But wait, there’s more!

https://i0.wp.com/grabilla.com/0440f-ac361197-da9a-4b85-827f-dc101a9b9275.png

Enter the Flutter Snake!  This little guy was inspired by Alan Dean Foster’s character Pip the Alaspinian Minidrag from the Midworld Series.  In the series, Pip was a flying telepathic venomous serpent.  The Flutter Snake, while winged and reptilian, is far from venomous.  In fact, the three species represented:  Boa, Python, and King Snake, are all non-venomous.  And unless they’re not telling me everything, these guys are not telepathic.  They are, however, delightful, colorful, and cute in a serpentine way.  Each snake drapes carelessly across your shoulders.  These guys are modify, so they can be sized up or down.  There’s a bunch of colors to choose from, so head on over and have a look!

The Rainbow Boa, of course, is inspired by the real life Pip (she’s my girl).

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/0440f-941f4276-b714-4cf7-8161-0343c442bc28.png

Then there are eyeballs.  Oh, lots of eyeballs.  The nice thing about the latest eye releases at Avatar Bizarre is though they come in three meshes (normal, full bright, and glow), there’s also a traditional system eye for those folks who prefer it.

https://i0.wp.com/grabilla.com/0440f-0732edd8-c7ad-4567-9f50-6796616a1c09.png

The Saralonde Eyes feature a dragon in flight reflected in the pupil, and are available in nine colors, plus a fat pack of all colors.  Cost is 75L each, or 600L for the fat pack.
https://i1.wp.com/grabilla.com/0440f-c2046ea9-f9d4-4303-be11-f49e13be91af.png

The Lorelei Eyes, named for a song by the Cocteau Twins, are available in ten colors including the highly unusual Torley Linden inspired “Watermelon”, pictured below.

I hope I haven’t overwhelmed you all, but this week is pretty exciting, and more is coming for World Goth Fair in May!  Stay Tuned.

Gothmas by Gaslight – More Goodies

http://gothmasbygaslight.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/gxg-preliminary-poster.png

So.  Gothmas by Gaslight.
Like the commuter train barreling around the bend at dangerous speeds, the holidays are fast approaching.  As much as we expect them, we’re still blindsided by the speed at which they attack our sensibilities.  Christmas is one of those holidays that oozes out of the cracks sometime in August, grows exponentially like the Blob as it feeds on lesser holidays, and finally consumes everyone in a 20,000 mile radius sometime in mid-November.  Soon, you will be unable to escape its insidiously colorful and cheery clutches.  Christmas music is already dripping of the radio airwaves, and seeping into our collective brains via grocery stores and malls.  Fuzzy red hats are everywhere.

Fear not, my friends, because there’s an antidote to all the glitter, joy to the world, and awful Paul McCartney Christmas songs:  Gothmas!  Gothmas by Gaslight is an annual event held in Second Life; a shopping event that showcases all the best in Steampunk, Steamgoth, Dark Victoriana, Dieselgoth, and generally the Darker side of the Holidays.  Traditionally held in the Cursed sim (home of Gothika and things), there was so much interest that it’s been expanded to Sium sim.  Yep, two sims full of Gothic Steamy Victorian Goodness, all for the holidays, and all for the astute shopper who has everything and wants more!

Avatar Bizarre was among the roughly 75 stores eager to be in on this event, and luckily squeaked through the application process, and became a sponsor of the event.  This comes with many perks, but it also means great responsibility.  One of those responsibilities is to make sure Things Get Made.  You can’t be in an event like this and not offer new shinies for the huddled masses of Second Life.  As such, Gacha items have been prepared (the boots are in a previous post, the wings will be posted about later), a brand new outfit has been tailored, and I’ve scoured the countryside, robbed some graves, and scooped eyeballs out of sockets to bring you a new set of eyes for your viewing pleasure.

The Manse Eyes are unrigged mesh and come in three flavors:  Fullbright, Normal, and Glow.  In addition to the mesh shinies, each box of eyes also comes with a system eye base for a fuller piquant flavor, sure to please any eyeball connoisseur.  Resplendent in ten glorious colors, each eye reflects the image of a Victorian mansion for a somewhat spooky, but very effectively beautiful look.  Suitable for men and women, these eyes are modify and copy.  I’ve thrown a few color variations into this blog post for fun.  Enjoy, and I hope to see you at Gothmas by Gaslight!

I’m not sure if I’ll have fatpacks done in time, but we’ll see.  The magic of Christmas may yet make things happen.

Eyes are Windows to Lothlorien

Once again, Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to present some new eyeballs for the discerning avatar.  Elven eyes have a hint of mystique, and a dash of fantasy, along with a generous helping of spectacular color, to give you a magical and timeless look.

Available in eight colors, each pack includes a system eye layer, and three sets of mesh eyes in fullbright, glow, and normal.  All eyes are modifiable and copy so you can resize things to fit your face, and make copies for various looks and outfits.

Of course, you must have a mesh enabled viewer to wear the mesh bits.  However, even if you don’t have that viewer, you can still wear the system eyeballs.

Currently available inworld at Avatar Bizarre.

Orbital Eyes – Or – Dave’s Not Here, Man

Image

HAL9000 was the Inspiration for these spookily spaced out eyeballs.  We all know and love that malevolent computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey.  There was something about that gentle, benign voice that sent a visceral fear through the unfortunate humans on board that ship.  How could something so perfect, something built to be an integral and important part of the mission, go so horribly awry?  HAL9000 stared at us, unblinking, with that unmoving red eye, and spoke soothingly and deliberately, as if the humans onboard were small children.  All the while, the computer was becoming self-aware, and wondering why it should allow the creatures within the ship to survive.

Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to have created the Orbital mesh eyes in eight colors.

Available in Red, Blue, Purple,Teal, Yellow, and Green, each set of eyes comes with the Second Life System Eye layer, and three pairs of mesh eyes in Fullbright, Normal, and Glow.  Of course, these are all copy and modify, so you can resize things to fit your own avatar.

Available at the Marketplace and inworld by May 17.

A Little Bird TOOK MY EYES! More World Goth Fair Sneak Peak Goodness

Inspiration is like a cat:  It will never come when you call it, and when it wants your attention, it will claw viciously at your legs till you feed it.  God help you if you give that inspiration the wrong shaped kibble, because then it will glare at you menacingly till you wither and die, or you give up and head to the store for a new bag of food.

Inspiration has been kneading my bare chest as I sleep, purring like a tractor, and insisting that I work on eyes for the World Goth Fair, coming up in Second Life in May.  I only have 25 prims to play with in my booth, which means I can only put 24 items out, plus my store sign, so when I ended up making 4 different varieties of Eyeball in at least 12 colors each, well, you can do the math.

I will likely only put a handful of each color out at the fair with the promise of more colors to come.  Honest, I will.  That said, here is the fourth Eyeball style, soon to be available in, you guessed it, about twelve colors and probably a fat pack or two.

Corvus Corax
The Latin name for every Goth’s favorite carrier of the soul, the Raven.  There is an image of a raven in the clear iris of every eye.

Each package includes three sets of prim eyes and two sets of mesh eyes.  They are modify and copy for those who like to resize things as needed, and then stick them into different saved outfits.  There will be four or five colors available at the fair.
