Der Fledermaus

Avatar-Bizarre-Fledermaus-IV
20Twenty is fast approaching, and this means Avatar Bizarre will have something new available at 20% off normal price for the duration of the event, staring April 20.

Fledermaus, which means “Bat”, is a Gothic suit that includes a high collared coat and shirt (mostly just the front part of the shirt), plus Omega pants appliers for mesh bodies.  For non mesh bodies, the system layer pants are included in all the colors.  The coat has a color HUD, and is materials enhanced.

Avatar-Bizarre-Fledermaus-III

I originally made this because someone asked me to make a Gothic coat she could wear.  But then things just sort of spiraled into a big production and the suit happened.  This coat fits nicely on the SLink Male Phsyique (pictured here, actually).  You just have to use the alpha HUD included with the body.  But it moves nicely, and works well for the discerning Goth.

The boots, pictured above, are sold separately and come rigged and unrigged.  If you look closely at the heel, you’ll see a little bat imprinted underneath.

A Fantasy of Fever Dreams – Zaahn Preview

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-VThe lone traveler contemplated his fate.  He had been forcefully sent to a desolate and eerie island, where little made sense.  The carnival was deserted, and little wonder why.  The clown statues littering the grounds appeared sinister and dangerous.  They loomed through the mist, menacing grimaces that must have delighted once, though he doubted it.  He didn’t like clowns.  It was a trust issue; you couldn’t feel safe around a creature with a grin that wide, yet so dark and wretched inside.

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-IIIThe traveler was undaunted by the menacing clown as he attempted a trick he’d learned long ago.  He was surprised to learn he still had the strength for the trick on a stack of chairs.  Still, that clown…  A trickle of cold sweat coursed down the back of his neck.  With a lurch, he tumbled off the chair and rolled away from that clown in haste.  Why are there so many clowns?  Why won’t that incessant creepy laughter die down?

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-IIHe’d had enough.  He left the carnival and wandered the rest of the lonely island till he came upon a dead tree.  “How can I get off this wretched island?” he thought miserably.  “Can’t sleep.  Clowns will eat me.”

Avatar-Bizarre-Zaahn-IVThe Zaahn is Avatar Bizarre’s latest creation.  Available soon at Fantasy Faire, it includes 5 standard sizes, system layer underpants in all colors, an Omega pants applier for mesh bodies, and an alpha.  The boots are available as a separate item, and also include a color HUD with all the color options, and two sizes (male/female).  Everything has been materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.  Zaahn will be available for men and for women.

Coming soon! Watch this space for landmarks and announcements.

It’s the Season of the Steampunk Witch

Avatar-Bizarre-Malefica-Skyward
My model mentioned to me a while ago that it was difficult to find decent Steampunk attire in Second Life these days.  I have to admit I was surprised to hear this, since Second Life has always had a large contingent of Steamfolk, Victorians, and various odd dieselpunk people.  You would think with all that wandering blithely around the grid, that it would be a simple affair to hit the shops for a bit of a Steampunk lark to add to your already bulging, straining at the seams inventories.

Avatar-Bizarre-Malefica-Close-Up

Honestly, who am I to argue these points with someone who clearly shops way more than I do.  So, leaving it to the experts, I set forth on a quest to create a Steampunk gown that LO! contains no gears.  Sorry about that.  But slapping gears on something and calling it “Steampunk” is rather like dying your flannel shirt black and calling it “Goth”.  While that practice is, in theory, correct, it’s pretty cliche.  He said, surreptitiously nudging that gear covered waistcoat under the Axminster.

Avatar-Bizarre-Malefica-Spread
After hammering out a basic design, and giving it the metallic sheen it so richly deserves, the Malefica was born.

Malefica means “witch” in Latin.  Not that this is strictly a witch costume, or that I’m disparaging my model, or anything, but it evolved from something kind of Steamy to something kind of Steamy and Gothic and Witchy all at once.  It’s elegant in its simplicity.

Malefica is a complete wardrobe all on its own:  You can wear it as a corset with leather pants (included), a miniskirt with corset, wear it with or without the blouse, with or without the full flexi skirt.  On top of that, you get eight color options for the skirt and skirt bell, two color options for the blouse, and two colors for the skirt, as well as the pants.  How can you go wrong with all of this?

To top it off, there’s an Omega HUD controlling the pants layer for those of you with Omega compatible mesh bodies.  Oh yes, I’ve literally got you covered this time.

Available at the store and on the marketplace now.

A Little Madness Goes a Long Way

 Grabilla screen capture:

There was a minute there when I was all gung ho about making stuff inspired by Alice in Wonderland.  There was a whole “Lewis Carroll’s Fever Dreams” collection that happened.  In included a lot of partial mesh outfits, as I was learning how to model and rig things for Second Life.

At one point, I probably made three or four different Mad Hatter outfits.  They were all different, but they all had this partial mesh thing in common, except for the original Mad Hatter outfit, which was all system layers and flexi prims.  That one had a couple of versions, as I sought to improve things later on, and was far too reluctant to simply give up on the outfit altogether.

 Grabilla screen capture:

The old system layer outfits can still look pretty good, but with the prevalence of all the zillions of mesh bodies out there, particularly Belleza, SLink, Maitreya, and others, these outfits kind of fell by the wayside, because mesh bodies cannot wear system layers without special applier scripts.

But never fear!  In a frenzy of “Oh hey, we have the technology; we can make it stronger, faster, better…” I acquired the necessary scripts and created some HUDs for mesh body clothing layers.  The nice thing about OMEGA appliers is quite a lot of the mesh bodies out there are compatible.  You only have to go out on the Marketplace and buy the particular relay for whichever body you wear.

You can get a list of all the compatible bodies for OMEGA system here:  http://lovenlustdesigns.blogspot.com/p/supported-meshes.html

In a pique of, “Gotta make it betteritis”, the Mitternacht Hatter coats all got refitted, rerigged, and reuploaded.  In addition, a female version of the coat was also created.  The coat and hat are now on a color HUD, which includes all six colors of each.  The shirt and pants are on the OMEGA applier HUD.  There’s an unrigged turtleneck collar included.  Oh, and things have been materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.

While the older version of this outfit came with boots, I decided it would be best to leave the boots out of this version, and price it a bit cheaper.  It’s currently available on the Marketplace and Inworld for 375L.

One Thing You Need to Know About A Hidden Sanctuary

AB-Walk-the-night_001

Awake in the night to whisper your name
Only a silence replies it’s answer a sleeping refrain
The moment dies but memory stays
Love like a run our way by
We spin and we climb
To where once islands cried
And there sometimes angels can be devils too
It’s true of you
It’s true of you – The Damned, Sanctum Sanctorum – Phantasmagoria album

See this post to get the skinny on the Ashe suit, guys.  Then you can hop over to this post for more information on a delightful dress called Evelyn for the ladies.

Walk the Night With Me is a Gothic event in Second Life, which starts July 18.  It will cater to all things dark and romantic, so it was imperative to decorate the booth in rich purples.  Avatar Bizarre’s offerings for this event include a Gothic gown (sort of Virctorian style) for the ladies, and a stylized Victorian style Gothic suit for the guys.  In addition, there’s a Nyarlathotep head sitter with a color HUD available at a special 99L price just for the run of the event.

You can find the event Facebook group page here —> https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hidden-sanctuary-events/479579422210010

The suit being worn by that funny looking character in the booth is the Ashe suit in purple, because everything purple.  As you can see, there’s a demo available in that black and green box over yonder.

The Dragon Queen

 Grabilla screen capture:
The Dragon Queen conjures up an image of a strong authority, who rules her domain with magic, an iron fist, and a whole lot of ferocious dragons.  Inspired by equal parts H.R.Giger and Daenerys Targaryen, this asymmetrical dress has the look and feel of skin taken from an alien dragon.  Resplendent in six dark jewel tones, the dress itself is rigged mesh.  The pearls at the waist, upper arm, and upper thigh glimmer with an inner light, only seen in the eye of the kraken.  These bands bring the regal look together with gently draped flexi cloth, pulling together the gentle shine of the leather that draws the eye to the left and down.

Then, when it’s finally time to plead to you, good lady, for their lives, the lines lead the eye back up your stunning visage, which is frame gorgeously by a high sweeping collar.

After all, your subjects are facing royalty, and must avert their eyes unless you command them to look up.  You are the Queen of all you survey, and this will be an astoundingly gorgeous addition to your already amazing wardrobe.

Available on the Marketplace and Inworld for 150L

Many thanks to my stunning model, Misha, for putting up with my incessant picture taking.

World Goth Fair – I Feel An Animal Deep Inside…

 Grabilla screen capture:

Hello, Darklings!
World Goth Fair (located here) is now OPEN!  For the next couple of weeks, you can get your serious Goth on with dozens of fantastic Goth merchants, a wonderful Stygian-Dark sim, and some great music as only a bunch of Goth DJs can inflict upon the huddled masses.

As mentioned earlier, Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to be a part of this amazing event in Second Life.  Several new items have been released for the fair, including the Dragonskin Coat shown in the photos.

The Dragonskin Coat, which is rigged mesh, and available for both men and women, is materials enhanced and comes with a color change HUD.  I would recommend getting your hands on this wonderfully vampiric coat, made from the finest pixelated dragon skin.  It’s well known that Gothic dragons are chameleonic in nature, so naturally a coat made from the skin of the dragon can change colors on demand..

 Grabilla screen capture:

In addition to the Dragonskin Coat, you will find the Sgt. Nemesis Marching Band uniform (in male and female versions), and the Arachne Jumpsuit (female only).  More pictures to come as your humble narrator wanders the sim in search of darkness and glory.

World Goth Fair is less than a week away.  For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, this is an annual event held on the Cursed sim, which features several merchants and their spectacular Gothic wares, plus a whole lot of live Gothic DJ music. World Goth Fair was originally a charity event, but it will be a little different this year, because Linden Lab has made it mind-bogglingly difficult to set up charity events without huge migraines and small animal sacrifices.  I’m sure they’d insist on virgins being thrown into the nearest pixilated volcano, but those are hard to find in Second Life these days.  I’ll leave it up to you whether you think I mean volcanoes or virgins.

All snarkiness and Linden Lab aside, World Goth Fair is a fantastic outlet for all things Goth.  All the Gothiness will be available in one handy sim.  You can peruse things at your leisure as you listen to some prime Gothic music (Pretentious, Moi? is a perennial favorite with Cursed residents), and there will be a fabulous build for taking pictures of all your awesome new things.

Avatar Bizarre is, once again, a part of World Goth Fair, and will be bringing a few brand new goodies into the mix, including the Sgt. Nemesis Marching Band outfit shown here.

I get by with a little help from my friends, especially when it comes to marching band outfits.  This number, named for half a Beatles album, and all of a Shriekback song, is rigged mesh and includes five sizes and an alpha.  The good news is it comes in six colors.  In even better news, it’s available for both men and women!

With apologies to my normal model, Misha, time got away from me while I was off working on a severe real life deadline, and I suddenly found myself with less than a day to make, texture, and photograph the female version of this outfit.  But a personal note to her:  There’s going to be a Sgt Pepper-Bright version of this outfit pretty soon.  Meanwhile, here’s my mug as a female avatar.

There will be a few other goodies available from Avatar Bizarre, which will debut at World Goth Fair.  Stay Tuned for more!

World Goth Fair opens May 15.  You can get more information at the blog.

Holiday Season Brings a Cornucopia of New Things – Horrorfestive, GxG, Twisted Krissmuss, Etc… Part 1

AB-Morelia

The Holiday season has blundered into our lives once again, and bludgeoned us with all the usual malarkey involving stuff and things and junk and stuff.  Of course, folks in Second Life are not immune to such shenanigans, and merchants are all over the creating opportunities like bees to honey (hey I’m being G-Rated here).

I have been busy peppering Avatar Bizarre with new things, both for general new releases, and for all the various events I’ve signed up for.

The first thing to tell you about, oh my droogs and devotchkas, are the Morelia eyes.
Morelia veridis is the Latin name for the Green Tree Python.  This snake hatches out yellow, red, or brown, and eventually turns emerald green as an adult.  It is non-venomous and diurnal, meaning it’s active during the day, if you can call a snake coiled up in a cinnamon bun of verdant rodent terror “active”.  The Morelia eyes are based on the python’s slit-pupil orbs, and are available in ten colors.  Each set contains three pairs of prim eyes (full bright, normal, and glow), two sets of mesh eyes (normal and full bright), and a pair of system eyes.  All are copy/modify.  These are currently available inworld at the main store location, plus a few pairs at Horrorfestive, which runs for the next couple of weeks in a sim full of horror-inspired items for the holidays.  You can also find them on the marketplace.  The cost for each set is 75L.

https://slm-assets1.secondlife.com/assets/10717149/lightbox/AB-Morelia-Eyes-Silver.jpg?1417753190

These will be great for drow and other elven beings, faerie folk, vampires, draconians, and lycanthropes.

I’ve already mentioned the Ozymandias, to be released for Gothmas by Gaslight, in a previous blog post.  What you don’t know is there are more things to be had at Gothmas by Gaslight!

AB-Lucretia

The Lucretia gown, named after that Sisters of Mercy song we all know and love, is rigged mesh, and will be available in several colors for Gothmas.  It features a velvety skirt with a satin overlay, materials enhanced.  Gothic Victorian is all the rage in some circles, and you’ll be able to get your gown once Gothmas opens on December 15.

And just for fun…

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/04c09-e2313d4b-3e05-48e0-9736-ef59b3914b91.png

The Really Abominable Snowbeast is a rigged avatar available for 100L during Twisted Krissmuss.  He’s available on the marketplace and inworld at the main store location.  As you can see by the little size chart, he’s a bit taller than a regular Second Life Avatar.  He also comes with his own mesh Santa Hat for flavor.

Alas, my droogs and devotchkas, I have run out of room to tell you more.  Holiday Season Stuffs Part the Second to commence shortly.

And don’t forget to visit Avatar Bizarre for Twisted Krissmuss, Gothmas by Gaslight, and Horrorfestive!
