These Boots Are Made For Walking (In A Winter Wonderland)

Avatar Bizarre Snow Cutter Boots

While shuffling around waiting for El Niño to do more than drizzle a fine mist over the land, a winter fantasy started to emerge in my drought-stricken brain.  What if it actually snowed where I live?  What if?  Then I realized, “Hey, it’s snowing somewhere in Second Life!”

What do you need when you’re tramping around in the snow?  Snow boots, of course!

Avatar Bizarre Snow Cutter Boots - Winter Wonderland

Avatar Bizarre Snow Cutter Boots are the perfect Wintery treat for the footwear enthusiast.  Not only do they look fantastic on just about anyone, but each package includes a male rigged pair, a female/femboy rigged pair, and an unrigged pair for folks who want to resize things.  The color HUD gives you the option of eight different colors, and there’s an extra couple sets of chained claws (unrigged) that can be added to the rigged boots.

These have been materials enhanced for a little extra oomph! and an alpha is included for non-mesh avatars.  These definitely fit the Male SLink Physique, as long as you use the included alpha utilities HUD for that avatar.

Available on the Marketplace and Inworld.

A Dark Christmas Story – Krampus Lauf

AVatar-Bizarre-Krampus-Lauf-IV

Beware.  Krampusnacht approaches.  We will soon have a visit from a being of the Netherworld, an unearthly, Hellish creature, shackled to his punishment, except on one fateful night during the cold Winter.

Krampus is a demon, released from Hell each year by Saint Nicholas.  He wanders the countryside as the Anti-Santa, doling out punishments to the wicked, the naughty, and unpleasant.  When Santa Claus is checking his list to see who’s been naughty or nice, he hands the list over to the Krampus, who uses his whacking stick to beat the unruly.

Those people who have been extra bad get a personal invitation from Krampus; shoved into his basket and taken home to be eaten for Christmas dinner.

If you hear the sound of bells, and the whip crack of a tightly bound bundle of sticks outside your door, you better lay low, for Krampus is nigh.

Avatar-Bizarre-Krampus-Lauf-II

Avatar Bizarre has long upheld the Krampus tradition, and faithfully spread the tale through the years by releasing something Krampus-related about this time of year to the huddled Second Life masses.

This year, Avatar Bizarre will be releasing a new Merry Krampus holiday sweater at Twisted Krissmuss, starting December 7.  It is a rigged mesh sweater, available for both male and female avatars.  It should fit most mesh bodies, provided you use the alpha HUD that comes with your mesh body of choice.  But please do try the demo first.

Avatar-Bizarre-Krampus-Lauf-I

The other Krampus goodie appearing just in time for the holidays is a Krampus Hat.  This is a gacha item (don’t worry, no rares!) that is available in “naughty” or “nice” versions, and eight colors of each.  If you’re particularly good I may create a copy/modify version of each with a color HUD.  For now, the item is Modify/Transfer and 20L per play.  This gacha will debut at Twisted Krissmuss as well.

What’s Up, Doc? Definitely not your run of the mill clean room bunny suit!

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin’ down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppin’, Easter’s on its way – G Autry

Easter is roughly a week away, so of course there’s a great need for bunny costumes, right?  Even if there wasn’t a burning need for them, here they are, because it seemed like a fun thing to make and inflict upon the huddled virtual masses in Second Life.  Not only do we have a prime Easter Bunny costume here in lovely rigged mesh, and knitted from the finest virtual Angora rabbits, but this number can double as jammies for that sleepover you’ve been aching to have.  The cool thing about this costume (apart from it being a bunny and all), is it comes with a color HUD that gives you six delightful Springtime Eastery color choices.

I’m sure you already that that this might entail pink.  But not to worry, there’s also purple, yellow, blue, green, and white with pink bits.  Hey, bunnies are fluffy and cute, and come in pastel colors, apparently.  So, if you’re looking for something to wear for your wild funtime Easter parties, hop on over to Avatar Bizarre and grab your bunny suit today!  Cost is 150L.

Available inworld and on the marketplace.

Holiday Season Brings a Cornucopia of New Things – Horrorfestive, GxG, Twisted Krissmuss, Etc… Part 1

AB-Morelia

The Holiday season has blundered into our lives once again, and bludgeoned us with all the usual malarkey involving stuff and things and junk and stuff.  Of course, folks in Second Life are not immune to such shenanigans, and merchants are all over the creating opportunities like bees to honey (hey I’m being G-Rated here).

I have been busy peppering Avatar Bizarre with new things, both for general new releases, and for all the various events I’ve signed up for.

The first thing to tell you about, oh my droogs and devotchkas, are the Morelia eyes.
Morelia veridis is the Latin name for the Green Tree Python.  This snake hatches out yellow, red, or brown, and eventually turns emerald green as an adult.  It is non-venomous and diurnal, meaning it’s active during the day, if you can call a snake coiled up in a cinnamon bun of verdant rodent terror “active”.  The Morelia eyes are based on the python’s slit-pupil orbs, and are available in ten colors.  Each set contains three pairs of prim eyes (full bright, normal, and glow), two sets of mesh eyes (normal and full bright), and a pair of system eyes.  All are copy/modify.  These are currently available inworld at the main store location, plus a few pairs at Horrorfestive, which runs for the next couple of weeks in a sim full of horror-inspired items for the holidays.  You can also find them on the marketplace.  The cost for each set is 75L.

https://slm-assets1.secondlife.com/assets/10717149/lightbox/AB-Morelia-Eyes-Silver.jpg?1417753190

These will be great for drow and other elven beings, faerie folk, vampires, draconians, and lycanthropes.

I’ve already mentioned the Ozymandias, to be released for Gothmas by Gaslight, in a previous blog post.  What you don’t know is there are more things to be had at Gothmas by Gaslight!

AB-Lucretia

The Lucretia gown, named after that Sisters of Mercy song we all know and love, is rigged mesh, and will be available in several colors for Gothmas.  It features a velvety skirt with a satin overlay, materials enhanced.  Gothic Victorian is all the rage in some circles, and you’ll be able to get your gown once Gothmas opens on December 15.

And just for fun…

The Really Abominable Snowbeast is a rigged avatar available for 100L during Twisted Krissmuss.  He’s available on the marketplace and inworld at the main store location.  As you can see by the little size chart, he’s a bit taller than a regular Second Life Avatar.  He also comes with his own mesh Santa Hat for flavor.

Alas, my droogs and devotchkas, I have run out of room to tell you more.  Holiday Season Stuffs Part the Second to commence shortly.

And don’t forget to visit Avatar Bizarre for Twisted Krissmuss, Gothmas by Gaslight, and Horrorfestive!

Sleigh Bells and the Cableknit Sweater

https://i0.wp.com/grabilla.com/04b1d-4c66dc2e-b5ca-4e00-b94d-35061d074808.png

Winter is coming.  It’s not only a failed attempt on the part of the Starks to instill fear into Westros, but it’s also a (ahem) cold, hard fact.  The Holiday season has slammed its way into our lives like the powerful consumerist juggernaut it is, and with it comes snow, ice, sleet, and all kinds of reasons to enjoy a bit of frostbite with your friends and loved ones.

I live in California, so slieghing behind a magnificent horse wearing jingling tack is just not a normal activity.  But for folks in areas that receive actual weather, and in Second Life, it’s not such a rarity.  Some of my friends had a wonderful time riding behind Buck the Horse in one of Second Life’s most spectacular Winter sims the other day.  You can visit here.  Don’t miss out, because I’m pretty sure this is a holiday thing that will likely be turned into something else later on.

Of course the whole point of my bloggishness is to showcase some brand new Winter wear from Avatar Bizarre!  It’s not usual to find some actual modern day casual clothing options at Avatar Bizarre, since it’s a store that specializes in Gothic, Fantasy, and Historic.  But occasionally, the normal, every day clothing options happen.

This time, it’s a clothing option with a Scottish twist.  Inspired by the traditional woolen cableknit sweaters you might find in any shop on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the Avatar Bizarre Cableknit Sweater is available in both Male and Female options.

https://i0.wp.com/grabilla.com/04b1d-9ea04d2d-63e7-4127-9af3-c5b77fc9b902.png

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/04b1d-7a1f6e52-e31d-4df0-9f7a-7afecddb7bbf.png

There’s also a full range of colors available.  Made only from the highest quality vertices wool, spun into thick, warm woolen mesh yarn from the Blender loom, each sweater package includes five sizes with a twist.  You see, these run a little baggy, because sweaters are supposed to be warm, comfortable, and somewhat bulky.  If you have Advanced Lighting enabled, the knitting pattern stands out nicely for a cozy sweatery feel.

Special thanks go out to Buck the Horse for entertaining all of us in pure equestrian form.  Thanks also goes out to my female model, Misha-Selene, for once again coming through for a wonderful photo shoot.

Dancing Through a Gothic Wonderland

https://i0.wp.com/grabilla.com/04b0f-80ef9ff3-14de-4023-905d-539f74d72845.png

Once Halloween comes to a screeching halt, all Hell breaks loose as we gear up for one of the biggest holiday events in Second Life:  Gothmas!  Whatmas?  Gothmas!  It’s that black and romantic time when all the darklings come out of the woodwork and celebrate in a weird and wonderful way.  We don our goth apparel and dance to the ethereal carols of Pretentious, Moi?, Sisters of Mercy, Imperative Reaction, and Thoushaltnot.

Gothmas by Gaslight is nigh, and as you wander the hallowed streets of the cursed countryside, you will be regaled with many fine Gothic wares from a wide swath of merchants across the Second Life grid.

https://i1.wp.com/grabilla.com/04b0f-b6bcd694-98b9-4d24-bb2e-e4dbaa606380.png

It’s time once again to give those blackened blue eyes an advance look at what’s coming up from Avatar Bizarre during this most sacred of holidays.

“Ozymandias Female” – Modeled by Misha-Selene

The Ozymandias, named for the poem by Percy Bisshe Shelley is resplendent in six gorgeous jewel tones.  Although it is a simple outfit with leather pants, silken shirt, and waistcoat, you will look positively stunning in any of the hues.  This outfit is available for men and for women, and the sleeves and pants are materials enhanced.  Shoes are not included, but both pants and sleeves were made to accommodate SLink hands, and SLink boots.

Gothmas opens in December, and both versions of this outfit will be available for 250L.  Please try the demo before you buy.

The HORROR! Lovecraft Dagon Terrifies the Grid. News at 11.

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/04a16-6567fdd0-e8e7-4f6b-bc26-ee5397b7c893.png

“With only a slight churning to mark its rise to the surface, the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like, and loathsome, it darted like a stupendous monster of nightmares to the monolith, about which it flung its gigantic scaly arms, the while it bowed its hideous head and gave vent to certain measured sounds.” – HP Lovecraft

The holy terror moved through Innsmouth, towering over buildings, and causing the ground to quake with every footstep.  People ran screaming from this oceanic terror; an elder god of Lovecraftian proportions.  One glance upon its countenance could drive a man mad.

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/04a16-220afd06-1869-46b1-8cf8-385d3e29f81f.png

Now, Darklings, denizens of the deep, and huddled masses, the Dagon has at long last been unleashed upon the Second Life grid.  At 13.5 meters tall, this monster towers over human vermin in its path.  It’s available in seven colors, and materials have been applied, so it helps to have advanced lighting turned on when you’re viewing this creature.  The eyes can be modified for a deeper glow, or for no glow at all.  It also comes with a shape and an alpha.

If you find that your avatar won’t snap back to its original shape once the avatar has been removed, contact Sredni Eel for the free Utilitizer Undeformer.  Or you can get one from any of the Petites Mesh Avatar sims.

Available inworld and on the marketplace.

God of the Underworld – Anubis Avatar Sneak Preview

Image
As Egyptian Gods go, our Jackal-headed friend Anubis is probably one of the best known.  In the Pantheon of desert deities, he gets the dubious duty of taking care of people in the After Life.  He is also the patron god of embalming and mummification. He was originally said to be the son of Ra, but later mythology suggests he was the son of Osiris and Nephthys.  He mummified Osirus and received Osirus’s organs as a gift.

Avatar Bizarre is pleased to bring you the first in its line of Egyptian mesh avatars, which will eventually include Bast, Sekhmet, Sobek, Horus, and Amunet.  Anubis is 100% original mesh and includes the avatar with loin cloth and headdress, plus separate neck piece, wrist and ankle guards, which can be resized, since this avatar will size up or down, depending on your normal avatar’s settings.

Image
Anubis will debut as part of Gothmas by Gaslight this year.  Gothmas by Gaslight is an annual shopping event put on by Cursed Events.  The landmark will be forthcoming when the event opens on December 15 at Noon.  Till then, it’s Christmas time.  Instead of shaking all the presents and trying to guess what could be in the box, why not set your sights on something you can see and really want?  Although rigged mesh cannot be modified, apart from a bit of tinting, this avatar is listed as Modify and Copy.  All of the separate accessories are Modify and Copy, just in case you need to tweak them a bit to fit.  The full body alpha is full perm, so feel free to share that if you want.

Image

Avatar Bizarre is also a sponsor and organizer of Twisted Krissmuss. Please feel free to check out the brand new 100L transferable gryphon avatar, starting December 15.  And don’t miss out on the gachas!  Your ride to the shop:  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Burmilla/207/203/38

Twas the Night Before Gothmas – Feetie Pajamas for all Ages

Image

Avatar Bizarre has come through just in time for a snug Winter’s nap.  We all covet the warm fuzziness of our favorite feetie pajamas in the cold Winter months.  What better way to enjoy a hot mug of cocoa (with whipped cream, naturally) in front of a cozy fire during the holiday season than with your very own Santa Feetie Pajamas?  Available in Red, Green, Blue, Purple, and Black, these are 100% original mesh, and are available for men, women, and children!

Image

You can find all of the Feetie Pajamas in the main store location, as well as on the Marketplace.

Each set comes complete with a Santa Claus style night cap, and two alphas (full body and foot).  Please try the free demo (transferable, should you need to send one to your alt or a friend!).

The Dickens, You Say! Ghost of Marley

https://i2.wp.com/grabilla.com/03b0c-8f674f3e-1014-4449-a814-c3f9f91492eb.png

A Christmas Carol is a novella by English author Charles Dickens, first published by Chapman & Hall on 19 December 1843. The story tells of bitter and miserly Ebenezer Scrooge’s ideological, ethical, and emotional transformation resulting from supernatural visits from Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The novella met with instant success and critical acclaim.

The book was written and published in early Victorian Era Britain, a period when there was both strong nostalgia for old Christmas traditions and an initiation of new practices such as Christmas trees and greeting cards. Dickens’s sources for the tale appear to be many and varied but are principally the humiliating experiences of his childhood, his sympathy for the poor, and various Christmas stories and fairy tales.

The tale has been viewed by critics as an indictment of 19th-century industrial capitalism. It has been credited with restoring the holiday to one of merriment and festivity in Britain and America after a period of sobriety and somberness. A Christmas Carol remains popular, has never been out of print, and has been adapted to film, stage, opera, and other media multiple times. – From Wikipedia

Jacob Marley’s Ghost wanders the grid for the first time, in search of retribution from a bitter old miser.  Charles Dickens’ classic story, A Christmas Carol, has come to life in movies, television, song, Broadway, and now Second Life!  Inspired by a sincere plea from the builder of this year’s Dickens installation, the Ghost of Marley is a classic spectral outfit with glowing chains and a glowing cravat for that ethereal spirit appearance during the Holiday season.  This outfit is part of a growing Dickens collection available from Avatar Bizarre.  If Marley isn’t your style, there’s an outfit based on Ebenezer Scrooge, and a suit based on Bob Cratchitt, both available inworld and on the marketplace.
