Regency Alpaca – A Genre Experience

Avatar-Bizarre-Chauncey-Regency-Shoes---AlpacaWhat do you get when you put an alpaca in two sets of Regency shoes?

Yeah, I don’t know either.  But this is Alex the Alpaca modeling the latest pair of shoes from Avatar Bizarre; a stunning selection from the Regency Era.  Alex traveled with me to Buckingham Palace (in Texas?? sim), and obligingly allowed me to snap picture after picture once he’d fitted the shoes to all four of his tiny hooves.

We spent some time in the Marble Room, marveling at the…well the marble.  And the pink chairs.  We were greeted by a guardsman who, interestingly enough, was wearing an older Avatar Bizarre 18th Century military uniform.  I have to say this made me incredibly happy.

Our alpaca friend here is quite dashing in a monocle and those fantastic shoes.

The Chauncey Regency Shoes will be available at the next round of Genre (opening mid-month).  These shoes (made for the SLink foot, but clearly fit alpacas rather nicely) are materials enhanced and come with a color HUD that includes several colors.  They are normally priced at 175L, but will cost 100L for the duration of Genre, so get them while they’re hot (and cheap!)

In addition to the Chauncey, a mid-heel SLink enhanced shoe for women will also be sold for 100L.  The Lady Rose Slipper, like the Chauncey, includes a color HUD with several colors, and is materials enhanced.  Both sets are unrigged so they can be resized and whatnot.

These Shoes Were Made For Wokkin – Hanfu Warped Head Shoes

AB-Hanfu-Shoes-with-Color-HUD

All you speak and all you hear
Hand that’s strong and voice it’s clear
An unforgotten memory when the moon begins to call – Red Rockers, China

Okay, so really, really bad title pun. Fine, I see the pun jar, and happily pay the tax therein.  Meanwhile, take a look at these awesome new shoes I’ve just made!

Honestly, when I was doing research on Chinese Traditional Footwear for men, not a lot of interest came up, till I found some photos of Hanfu Qing Dynasty Warped Head Shoes.  They were traditionally worn by men (along with the Hanfu robes), and generally made from silk or satin with cotton soles.  In more recent times, these shoes have been adopted by both men and women, as a Traditional fashion choice.  Since the thought of making Lotus shoes feels repellent, it’s safe to assume these unrigged shoes are for everyone with SLink flat feet in Second Life.

The Hanfu Warped Head Shoes, which are copy and modify, include a color HUD with six color choices.  They’ve been materials enhanced, so the pattern (and particularly the dragon on the front) really pop.

I do want to do more traditional Asian footwear (Lotus shoe is simply not gonna happen, folks), and I’m quite excited about this project.  You can now find the Hanfu shoes on the Marketplace and Inworld.

Should these sandals be worn with socks?

So these sandals happened.

I’ve never been big on making shoes for the sake of having shoes, but I know lots of folks enjoy buying shoes, sometimes rather obsessively.  Since the SLink mesh feet came out, there was suddenly a reason to start.  The first pair, the Neo Toes, came out last week. This week’s offering is the Medieval style Sandal for the SLink mesh flat feet.

Just to keep everyone else from feeling left out, there’s a version in the box that fits normal Second Life flipper feet.  After all, not everyone really wants to deal with mesh body parts.  Both sets of sandals are unrigged, so they can be resized as needed.  They are also available in around nine colors, including:  Black, Brown, Red, Gold, Green, Blue, Purple, Silver and Teal.

These sandals work beautifully for casual summery sorts of outfits, but since I’m such a fashion maven, I wore them with a Greg Brady style outfit with bellbottom pants and nylon shirt during my DJ gig last night.

And since I’ve been remiss in publishing set lists lately, it’s probably time to inflict one on you now.  Don’t worry, this won’t happen with any kind of frequency, because frankly I’m not that motivated.  I do love it when I can just let loose and play some of my favorite music for folks.  Include some requests, and mix thoroughly, and you end up with the following list.  Share and enjoy.
