The Mighty RAR!!

The-Mighty-RAR

This month’s Genre is all about sports, and what better way to show your appreciation of a favorite team than with your very own official jersey? The Mighty RAR is the fiercest team ever to breathe fire at the other side’s goons. They’re a juggernaut of power on the ice, perfect for when Winter finally arrives in Westros.

Genre is a monthly event with a different theme each month. Each merchant provides a new item, to be priced at 100L or lower for the duration of the event. Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to bring you the latest in Hockey fashion with a jersey that includes a seven color HUD! Be the envy of the opposing team when you show up to cheer on your favorite players.

Regency Alpaca – A Genre Experience

Avatar-Bizarre-Chauncey-Regency-Shoes---AlpacaWhat do you get when you put an alpaca in two sets of Regency shoes?

Yeah, I don’t know either.  But this is Alex the Alpaca modeling the latest pair of shoes from Avatar Bizarre; a stunning selection from the Regency Era.  Alex traveled with me to Buckingham Palace (in Texas?? sim), and obligingly allowed me to snap picture after picture once he’d fitted the shoes to all four of his tiny hooves.

We spent some time in the Marble Room, marveling at the…well the marble.  And the pink chairs.  We were greeted by a guardsman who, interestingly enough, was wearing an older Avatar Bizarre 18th Century military uniform.  I have to say this made me incredibly happy.

Our alpaca friend here is quite dashing in a monocle and those fantastic shoes.

The Chauncey Regency Shoes will be available at the next round of Genre (opening mid-month).  These shoes (made for the SLink foot, but clearly fit alpacas rather nicely) are materials enhanced and come with a color HUD that includes several colors.  They are normally priced at 175L, but will cost 100L for the duration of Genre, so get them while they’re hot (and cheap!)

In addition to the Chauncey, a mid-heel SLink enhanced shoe for women will also be sold for 100L.  The Lady Rose Slipper, like the Chauncey, includes a color HUD with several colors, and is materials enhanced.  Both sets are unrigged so they can be resized and whatnot.

Elves Wear Cloaks and Does Eat Oats, and Little Snakes a Flutter

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Avatar Bizarre, what with the new store design, a number of events demanding my attention, and a bunch of new releases!  The line-up of new releases, though long by new release standards, is also oddly varied.  Not only do you get a glimpse of the Elven Pirate Cloak (pictured above), but some Flutter Snakes have been unleashed, along with two different sets of eyes.  Everything is either all or mostly mesh.  All of the stuff is pretty fun, and hopefully will make your shopping trips that much more fun.

The Elven Pirate Cloak is available in six colors.  Each package includes a red-lined cloak, and a silver-lined cloak.  The cowl and shoulder pieces are unrigged mesh, which can be resized as needed.  The cloak itself is traditional flexi prims, simply because a cloak should flow, and it’s pretty hard to get mesh to swing around like a proper cloak should.  Originally, this item was informally suggested to me around Halloween, but I was having some issues trying to get the rigging to work.  Then I got smart and decided not to rig it at all, and it just sort of came together.   Each cloak is 120L, modify and copy.  Available inworld at the moment.  Soon to appear on the Second Life Marketplace.

But wait, there’s more!

Enter the Flutter Snake!  This little guy was inspired by Alan Dean Foster’s character Pip the Alaspinian Minidrag from the Midworld Series.  In the series, Pip was a flying telepathic venomous serpent.  The Flutter Snake, while winged and reptilian, is far from venomous.  In fact, the three species represented:  Boa, Python, and King Snake, are all non-venomous.  And unless they’re not telling me everything, these guys are not telepathic.  They are, however, delightful, colorful, and cute in a serpentine way.  Each snake drapes carelessly across your shoulders.  These guys are modify, so they can be sized up or down.  There’s a bunch of colors to choose from, so head on over and have a look!

The Rainbow Boa, of course, is inspired by the real life Pip (she’s my girl).

Then there are eyeballs.  Oh, lots of eyeballs.  The nice thing about the latest eye releases at Avatar Bizarre is though they come in three meshes (normal, full bright, and glow), there’s also a traditional system eye for those folks who prefer it.

The Saralonde Eyes feature a dragon in flight reflected in the pupil, and are available in nine colors, plus a fat pack of all colors.  Cost is 75L each, or 600L for the fat pack.

The Lorelei Eyes, named for a song by the Cocteau Twins, are available in ten colors including the highly unusual Torley Linden inspired “Watermelon”, pictured below.

I hope I haven’t overwhelmed you all, but this week is pretty exciting, and more is coming for World Goth Fair in May!  Stay Tuned.

Zoot Suit Genre

Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to be a part of Genre this month!  Genre is a monthly event held in honor of all the different cultures and communities in Second Life. Genre was formed to showcase some of the creations from designers who create for all the different cultures and role playing communities.  One of the nice things about such events is not only the opportunity for folks to learn about all the fantastic shops in Second Life, but many of these events offer special items at an affordable price.  Each item at Genre is 100L or less.  Every item must be new and exclusive to the event for its duration.

A theme is chosen for a specific genre each month to help inspire designers to create these wonderful items.  After the event ends, merchants can then release each item they create at the normal price, so if you want a nice discount, head on over!  Genre begins on the 15th of each month and ends on the 12th of the following month, so you have a smidge less than a month to visit the event.

Avatar Bizarre has a wonderful Zoot suit offering at Genre this month, which I’ve shown in a previous blog post.  With seven colors to choose from, and one free demo, I feel confident that people visiting the event will find a Zoot suit perfect for their wants and needs.

The Zoot Suit is Modify and Copy.  If you are at Genre and wish to purchase this as a gift for someone, please send Sredni Eel an IM with the name of the recipient, which item you want, and pay 100L (please mention you’ve paid in the IM so I can verify before I send the item).  As always with mesh clothing, please buy the demo first.  The demo is Transfer, so you can give it to anyone you want.

Share and Enjoy!

GENRE APRIL 15 through MAY 12.

Zoot Suit Riot

Avatar Bizarre has been invited to participate in a monthly event in Second Life called Genre.  It took me a bit to decide what I would do for the Big Band 1930s and 1940s Era Genre.  Having accidentally misread the note card, I was thinking, “Oh, great.  I can finally get around to making that Royal Flying Corps uniform from The Great War!  Then reality hit me and I realized that the whole notation about disallowing Nazi insignia, etc made a whole lot more sense once my reading skills kicked in and I noticed the organizers actually did mean that period right around World War II.  Oops.

No problem.  Avatar Bizarre specializes in Vintage clothing, as well as all the Historic, fantasy, and Gothic stuff that gets made.  Plus guys in Second LIfe are seriously under represented on the grid and in these huge events.  I’m hoping my latest creation will draw the guys in, at least a little bit.

Thus was the Avatar Bizarre Zoot Suit (mark II) born!  100% original, and 95% rigged mesh (there’s a Second Life Shirt Layer), this stunning example of 1930s flashy male attire includes the pants, jacket with chain, fedora, collar and tie, and wingtips, plus the requisite alphas for all three.  I did make it in one size; however, most guys tend to fit pretty well into this particular size.  It may be a bit big on male avatars that use the female base as part of their shape.  I would highly recommend checking out the fit with the demo first.  All demos at Avatar Bizarre are free and Transfer only, so you can share between alts and friends.

Rigged mesh cannot really be altered all that much, though you should be able to tint it if you desire.  The hat, collar/tie, and the shoes are unrigged and fully modifiable.  Please make copies before you attempt to modify any piece of clothing in your inventory.

The Zoot suit will be available at Genre in April.  For the run of the event, the entire ensemble will cost you a mere 100L!  After that, the price goes up.  It’s also going to be available in several colors.
