Heavy Metal

Avatar-Bizarre-Metallurgist-IIIMy arrival in the infamous Steamlands was uneventful after such a prolonged absence.  I hadn’t really expected folks to realize I was back, after many long months traveling the world, creating new outfits, and generally enjoying the life of an explorer and gentleman.

I, being of the well-dressed sort, have tailored a semi-formal, yet workaday outfit of finest metals.

My latest fashion hearkens back to a fascination of metallurgy; a love of metals and alloys, and the chemical properties that can be derived from certain materials.  I was wearing my latest invention:  An outfit forged in the searing flames of the Western mountains, hammered flat and pliable, and worked into a useful shield of waistcoat armor.  The shirt, stitched together by sheer force of will, was made of finest carbon fiber.  But what good is a clothier who does not cater to the Gentleperson in us all?  A functional bow tie, a lightweight metal top hat, and metallic garters to hold up the fabric of the sleeves complete this fare.

Avatar-Bizarre-MetallurgistThe trousers, a fine fighting pair though they are, were created for those who still wish to practice the fine art of Equestrianism.  Of course, fine riding gear can also be worn while astride your fantastic two-wheeled steam bike, or driving with your lover on a bright country lane in your favorite gyrocopter.  Trousers such as these should be worn with fine Dressage, or other knee high riding boots.

Boots are sold separately, of course, as folks have their preferences.

AB-Metallurgist-IIAlas, my tale is nearly at an end, but you will find this, and other new Steam outfits available at Avatar Bizarre very soon.  This outfit, in fact, not only comes with a color HUD (giving you eight metallic colors), but it will be available for daring young women, as well as men.

For the more traditional among you, there is a gentlelady’s gown being released within the next few days as well.  My model insisted upon it, and who am I to argue with the distaff on what would look good on the lovely female form?

Stay tuned, my friends.  More to come in the tale of Avatar Bizarre’s Heavy Metal.  This outfit will be released by Monday, January 28.

Pull a Comb Through Your Coal Black Hair – Zoot!

AB-Zoot-Suit-Riot
Avatar Bizarre has long been a purveyor of vintage and historic outfits, and the Zoot Suit is a perennial favorite.  This is the third incarnation of the outfit released in the store.  The first was released at a Vintage Fair a few years ago (system layers and flexi prims).  The second version was mostly mesh and made only for the male avatar.  It was also one of the first items I meshed up in Blender, so it was time for a bit of an update, which brings us to the third incarnation in the series.

AB-Zoot-Suit-Riot-IV
This particular Zoot Suit, unlike the last version, has an open coat, and comes in a female version, as well as the male.  To add to the whole Zoot Suit Riot, this outfit includes color HUDs for the coat/hat, and collar/tie.  There are eight colors which give you many, many more color combinations.  The shirt, which is a system layer (all eight colors included) is also on an Omega applier HUD for those folks wearing mesh bodies.

Please check here http://lovenlustdesigns.blogspot.com/p/supported-meshes.html to make sure the body you have is supported by the Omega applier system before you buy this outfit.

AB-Zoot-Suit-Riot-II

You get a lot of nifty colors, plus white (just in case you wish to tint something a color I haven’t provided).  All clothing items are copy/modify.  The rigged suit cannot be resized or repositioned, but it can be tinted.  The unrigged stuff can be resized and repositioned.

Feel free to try out the demo before you buy this suit.  The demo includes an applier for one of the shirt colors on the Omega system, so you can see if it works with your mesh body of choice.  For reference, the avatars pictured in this blog are a male SLink Physique and a Maitreya female body.

AB-Zoot-Suit-Riot-III
I’m still dinking with last minute details, like making the demo and whatnot, but I hope you enjoyed this sneak peak.  Again, this will be available, starting on January 6 at the Tesoro Nostalgia event.  Price and SLurl forthcoming when I have the details.

A Little Madness Goes a Long Way

 Grabilla screen capture:

There was a minute there when I was all gung ho about making stuff inspired by Alice in Wonderland.  There was a whole “Lewis Carroll’s Fever Dreams” collection that happened.  In included a lot of partial mesh outfits, as I was learning how to model and rig things for Second Life.

At one point, I probably made three or four different Mad Hatter outfits.  They were all different, but they all had this partial mesh thing in common, except for the original Mad Hatter outfit, which was all system layers and flexi prims.  That one had a couple of versions, as I sought to improve things later on, and was far too reluctant to simply give up on the outfit altogether.

 Grabilla screen capture:

The old system layer outfits can still look pretty good, but with the prevalence of all the zillions of mesh bodies out there, particularly Belleza, SLink, Maitreya, and others, these outfits kind of fell by the wayside, because mesh bodies cannot wear system layers without special applier scripts.

But never fear!  In a frenzy of “Oh hey, we have the technology; we can make it stronger, faster, better…” I acquired the necessary scripts and created some HUDs for mesh body clothing layers.  The nice thing about OMEGA appliers is quite a lot of the mesh bodies out there are compatible.  You only have to go out on the Marketplace and buy the particular relay for whichever body you wear.

You can get a list of all the compatible bodies for OMEGA system here:  http://lovenlustdesigns.blogspot.com/p/supported-meshes.html

In a pique of, “Gotta make it betteritis”, the Mitternacht Hatter coats all got refitted, rerigged, and reuploaded.  In addition, a female version of the coat was also created.  The coat and hat are now on a color HUD, which includes all six colors of each.  The shirt and pants are on the OMEGA applier HUD.  There’s an unrigged turtleneck collar included.  Oh, and things have been materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.

While the older version of this outfit came with boots, I decided it would be best to leave the boots out of this version, and price it a bit cheaper.  It’s currently available on the Marketplace and Inworld for 375L.

Hot to Trot – Dressage

Avatar-Bizarre-Dressage-Rearing

If you’re in for a spot of horseback riding, Avatar Bizarre has you covered with this new, improved version of the Dressage outfit.  The original only came in Male, and had system layer pants and shirt.  The new, improved version is also available as Female (which includes a flat chested X Small coat).

Here’s what you get:
– Rigged mesh coat with color HUD (eight colors)- System layer pants (9 colors), plus system layer shirt and gloves
– Pant, shirt, and glove layers on SLink and OMEGA applier HUDs
– Unrigged hat
– Unrigged cravat
– Alpha

The Male version comes in five standard sizes.  The Female version comes in the standard five sizes, plus the flat chested X Small size for femboys, furries, and child avatars.  Try the demo first, though.

Avatar-Bizarre-Dressage---Rest-Stop

This should be released pretty soon.  I just need to finish uploading and scripting the female sizes.

Boots will be sold separately, and will include a color HUD.  They will not only be materials enhanced, but will come with rigged and unrigged boots.
Avatar-Bizarre-Dressage---Hot-to-Trot

When you’re hot to trot, this outfit will be ready and waiting for you in a few days.

Magic Dance!

Avatar-Bizarre-Jareth-Costume-Female“You remind me of the babe — What babe?
The babe with the power? — What power?
The power of Voodoo — Who do?
You do — Do what?
Remind me of the babe.” – D. Bowie, Magic Dance (Labyrinth)

Jareth, the King of Goblin City, rules over the Labyrinth.  He is an imposing and magical figure, surrounded by all the fantastic creatures in the World of Labyrinth.  He has all the power he needs, commands a host of sycophantic goblin folk, and has some mad talent for singing and dancing.  Yet he lacks the thing he craves most:  The love of his life.  He sought to please her by taking away her troublesome baby brother, then offered her thirteen hours to find her way through his Labyrinth to his castle in the center of Goblin City.  He reordered time for her.  He did all she asked.  In the end, she rejected him, and he flew off as a great Barn Owl. Avatar-Bizarre-Jareth-costume-for-men

As perpetrator of Avatar Bizarre, I get my inspiration from a variety of sources, and this outfit is heavily inspired by what David Bowie wore during the Magic Dance scene.  The rigged mesh outfit comes with the standard five sizes for both men and for women, the crescent moon pendant, and a color HUD that changes the colors for both outfit and pendant separately.  The HUD gives you six colors to choose from.

AVatar-Bizarre-Jareth-Pendant
The boots for this outfit are sold separately.  There’s a male version, and a female version (male is simply larger than the female version).  The boots include a color HUD with six colors, as well as being materials enhanced.

All of this stuff is available inworld and on the marketplace.

Balancing on the Signpost of Life – A Hanfu for the Twisted Hunt

Twisted-Qi-PosterTwisted Hunt is once again lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce in September, and eat Second Life hunters for breakfast.  If you aren’t familiar with the Twisted Hunt, it’s a semi-annual grid-wide hunt in Second Life.  Second Life’s culture is such that hunts are kind of falling by the wayside, and most people would prefer not to take landmark after landmark, and stand around waiting for things to rez in various lagged sims so they can find some object that contains a free or dollarbie gift.  However, Twisted is one of those perennial Love It Or Hate It deals that crops up twice a year, in September and March.

While most other hunts are floundering and giving up the ghost, Twisted persists in its popularity because the merchants involved go the extra mile.  The gifts can be exceedingly difficult to find, due to reasons, but you will find all kinds of extra fun and goodies in most of the stores involved.  For example, some stores will have mini-hunts, some build fun labyrinths, some will have zombie killings, others provide extra fun by setting up games for hunters, and quite a lot of merchants will have more than one gift.  In fact, many will include a fun gift inside each of the ten visible decoys they’re allowed. Decoys.  Yes, we are fully aware that people cannot stand the things.  In fact, we don’t really like them much either because some people have gone completely overboard in inflicting them upon the huddled and frustrated masses.

The thing is, we do have rules, and even with the 30 meter global limit to where you can hide things and with the visible decoy limit, the hunt object can be…shall we say…a challenge to discover.  Merchants are allowed to hide INVISIBLE decoys under the floors and in the walls.  They are also allowed to rename random prims to that of the hunt object. The hunt object will always be a puzzle box cube (with new patterns this time!!), it will always be spinning, it will always be called something specific, and yes, it is fairly small.  But it shouldn’t be inside another prim, or recolored, or renamed.  Woe betide those who violate these sacrosanct rules!

Here’s the little critter you’re looking for in all its horrible glory:

Meanwhile, Avatar Bizarre (owned by one of the organizers) has a sneak preview of the male and female gift being handed out to the legions of hunters out there. Avatar Bizarre Qing Long Hanfu Male
The Qing Long Hanfu is a rigged mesh traditional Chinese outfit.  It includes all five sizes, is materials enhanced, and comes with a flexi sash, in addition to the mesh sash.  Avatar Bizarre is giving away (for free!) a teal Hanfu for both men and women this round.

Puttin’ on the Ritz – Tuxedo Fashion in Second Life

Avatar Bizarre Niven Tux
“High hats and narrow collars, white spats and lots of dollars – spending every dime for a wonderful time!” – Puttin’ on the Ritz

There a new kid in town, and he’s belting out the jazz hits at Club Noir in Second Life.  It’s an exciting time for tuxedo fans, because Avatar Bizarre has just released the Niven Tux.  Frank Sinatra, eat your heart out, because this fella’s definitely doing it his way.

Avatar-Bizarre-Niven-Tux-IIThe cool thing about this rigged mesh tux isn’t just that it comes in seven different colors, and includes a nifty color change HUD for the cumberbund, pocket square (Oh how we love the pocket squares!), and the bow tie.  The super cool thing about this tux is it comes in both a male and a female version, because sometimes everyone wants to don the tail coat and bow tie.  It’s the height of formal fashion.  Not only is the tux for that all important James Bond role play, but it’s also great for wedding parties, Hollywood style jazz clubs, and generally looking dapper and amazing. Avatar-Bizarre-Niven-Tux-at-Club-Noir

This is where “Cool as a cucumber” comes from.  Look at that devil may care attitude.  You can only get that from wearing a tux.

Avatar-Bizarre-Niven-Tux-for-Women

You can get this gem on the Marketplace and inworld at Avatar Bizarre.  Though the shoes are not included, you can get those at Avatar Bizarre as well.  They are prime, grade-A, shiny happy Saddle Shoes (with color HUD).

Going Medieval on Second Life – A Sneak Preview

Avatar-Bizarre-Order-of-the-Falcon

A Tale of Wanders, The Ancient Ones Return will be in full swing, starting August 8 and running through August 22 in Second Life.

The Ancients will take place in a fantastic setting where you can wander among huge mystical plants, imposing ruins, and lots of crumbly ivy-covered brick booths filled with amazing and interesting things.  Avatar Bizarre has a little nook all to itself in this fairyland, and there will be some great offerings to the huddled masses.

Avatar-Bizarre-Order-of-the-Falcon-II

Order of the Falcon (250L) is a new Medieval outfit for men; available in seven colors and materials enhanced.  This doublet and pants combination is lovingly detailed and includes five standard sizes, plus an alpha.  There’s a demo box sitting under all the vendors, so feel free to pick up a copy to check the fit.  In addition to the outfit, there’s a set of Order of the Falcon ankle boots for sale in the booth.  These shoes are unrigged, copy and modify, and include a color HUD with all seven colors (175L).  The shoes are also materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.

Avatar-Bizarre-Order-of-the-Falcon-III

The Order of the Falcon has initiated a new member into the group of knights, who are sworn to protect the land from marauding evil monsters and villains.  The double headed falcon emblazoned on the chest is a symbol of strength and cunning, and is proudly worn by all members of the brotherhood.  Leather wrist guards protect a swordsman’s arms from an enemy’s blade, keeps the teeth of the Dire Wolf from ripping you asunder, and provides protection from the fire of the dragon.  The moonstone set into the belt is an amulet to ward off evil.

Better watch out, or we may go Medieval on you!
AB-Order-of-the-Falcon-Shoes-with-Color-HUD

Order of the Falcon shoes, though made to work with the Order of the Falcon outfit, can be worn by anyone.

So remember, August 8-22, the Ancients Return!  Along with the new outfit and shoes shown here, and the new toga for women shown in a previous post, there will also be wings with color HUDs, and a couple of Baudica Armor outfits for women.  Demos are available for all rigged outfits.

Aloha, Mr. Hand! The Hawaiian Shirt Gets a HUD!

AB-Hawaiian-Shirt-Hibiscus

“Well Stu I’ll tell you, surfing’s not a sport, it’s a way of life, it’s no hobby. It’s a way of looking at that wave and saying, “Hey bud, let’s party!” – J. Spicoli, Fast Times at Ridgemont High

It’s finally happened.  The “Best Of” blog post, which sneaks up on a person quite sneakily, and insists on showing things you may have seen before.  Unlike the normal “Best Of”, this particular piece has been given a bit of a make over.  You see, it used to be a Hawaiian shirt you could get as single colors and patterns.  Oh, you still can, if you look hard enough on the Second Life Marketplace, but I’m here to tell you that if you really want a Hawaiian Shirt from Avatar Bizarre, you’re getting six whole colors in one of three patterns for the price of about one and a half of the old shirt.  So what a deal!

Thing is quite a lot of older merchandise I can’t seem to delete has been getting a mesh make over and, in some cases, a color HUD make over.  A case in point:  The Hawaiian Shirt!

AB-Hawaiian-Shirt-Fronds

What started off as a system layer ensemble (The Spicoli), became mesh.  And then the mesh expanded into a color HUD with six colors.  There are three patterns available:  Hibiscus (top photo), palm fronds (above), and palm tree (below).  Each shirt is an extremely casual open shirt with a system layer teeshirt underneath.  Since this is for your favorite surfer dude, the teeshirt has a picture of a nifty Orca emblazoned across the chest.

The color HUD is simple and easy to use, and each color HUD includes six colors (though I somehow managed to only show five in these particular images).  Oh well, Aloha, Mr. Hand.  Time is precious, and most of us would rather be kicking back on a beach somewhere with a cold drink and a nice umbrella.

AB-Hawaiian-Shirt-Tree

These are currently available on the Marketplace and inworld.

We’re All Mad Here…How To Cheshire Cat

AB-Cheshire-Cat-IV

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Avatar-Bizarre-Cheshire-Cat-Suit---Female

Some time ago, when yours truly was making those first tentative steps into the world of mesh, I started making a bunch of fantasy outfits inspired heavily by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass.  The clothing line was called, “Lewis Carroll’s Fever Dreams”, and included a half dozen gender neutral outfits:  Madder Hatter, Jabberwocky, Mock Turtle, Mitternacht Hatter, and The Cheshire Cat.

These outfits were system layer creations with unrigged mesh details, for the most part.  While system layer clothing can be really well done with some spectacular texturing, I felt that eventually these outfits would need to be replaced with fully mesh options.  The system layer versions will still be available on the Marketplace, but the latest versions are slowly filtering their way into the main store location.

Leading the charge in the meshy improvements is the Cheshire Cat.  This is a tiger-striped bit of fantasy suit deliciousness, which is not only materials enhance, but it also includes a set of mesh ears.  The suit itself is available in both male, and female versions. There are seven colors to be had and, apparently, my model and I agree we both like the teal version best.

In addition to the suit, a separate pair of Cheshire Cat shoes is available.  These are unrigged, and made to fit the ankles on SLink feet, though a well placed alpha will make them look good on regular ankles, as well.

AB-Cheshire-Cat-Shoes-with-Color-HUD

The shoes come with a color HUD that includes all seven colors.  They cost 175L.  The suit (male and female) is 375L.

Whether you wish to be a part of Mr. Carroll’s fever dreams as you wander the Alice in Wonderland sims, or you simply want to be a stylish Neko (are they still a thing in Second Life?), this is a fantastic addition to any wardrobe.

All are currently available in the main store location.  Everything will be available on the Marketplace after the 23rd (basically whenever Linden Lab does the migration to VMM.
