Aloha, Mr. Hand! The Hawaiian Shirt Gets a HUD!

AB-Hawaiian-Shirt-Hibiscus

“Well Stu I’ll tell you, surfing’s not a sport, it’s a way of life, it’s no hobby. It’s a way of looking at that wave and saying, “Hey bud, let’s party!” – J. Spicoli, Fast Times at Ridgemont High

It’s finally happened.  The “Best Of” blog post, which sneaks up on a person quite sneakily, and insists on showing things you may have seen before.  Unlike the normal “Best Of”, this particular piece has been given a bit of a make over.  You see, it used to be a Hawaiian shirt you could get as single colors and patterns.  Oh, you still can, if you look hard enough on the Second Life Marketplace, but I’m here to tell you that if you really want a Hawaiian Shirt from Avatar Bizarre, you’re getting six whole colors in one of three patterns for the price of about one and a half of the old shirt.  So what a deal!

Thing is quite a lot of older merchandise I can’t seem to delete has been getting a mesh make over and, in some cases, a color HUD make over.  A case in point:  The Hawaiian Shirt!

AB-Hawaiian-Shirt-Fronds

What started off as a system layer ensemble (The Spicoli), became mesh.  And then the mesh expanded into a color HUD with six colors.  There are three patterns available:  Hibiscus (top photo), palm fronds (above), and palm tree (below).  Each shirt is an extremely casual open shirt with a system layer teeshirt underneath.  Since this is for your favorite surfer dude, the teeshirt has a picture of a nifty Orca emblazoned across the chest.

The color HUD is simple and easy to use, and each color HUD includes six colors (though I somehow managed to only show five in these particular images).  Oh well, Aloha, Mr. Hand.  Time is precious, and most of us would rather be kicking back on a beach somewhere with a cold drink and a nice umbrella.

We’re All Mad Here…How To Cheshire Cat

AB-Cheshire-Cat-IV

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”
Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

Avatar-Bizarre-Cheshire-Cat-Suit---Female

Some time ago, when yours truly was making those first tentative steps into the world of mesh, I started making a bunch of fantasy outfits inspired heavily by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass.  The clothing line was called, “Lewis Carroll’s Fever Dreams”, and included a half dozen gender neutral outfits:  Madder Hatter, Jabberwocky, Mock Turtle, Mitternacht Hatter, and The Cheshire Cat.

These outfits were system layer creations with unrigged mesh details, for the most part.  While system layer clothing can be really well done with some spectacular texturing, I felt that eventually these outfits would need to be replaced with fully mesh options.  The system layer versions will still be available on the Marketplace, but the latest versions are slowly filtering their way into the main store location.

Leading the charge in the meshy improvements is the Cheshire Cat.  This is a tiger-striped bit of fantasy suit deliciousness, which is not only materials enhance, but it also includes a set of mesh ears.  The suit itself is available in both male, and female versions. There are seven colors to be had and, apparently, my model and I agree we both like the teal version best.

In addition to the suit, a separate pair of Cheshire Cat shoes is available.  These are unrigged, and made to fit the ankles on SLink feet, though a well placed alpha will make them look good on regular ankles, as well.

AB-Cheshire-Cat-Shoes-with-Color-HUD

The shoes come with a color HUD that includes all seven colors.  They cost 175L.  The suit (male and female) is 375L.

Whether you wish to be a part of Mr. Carroll’s fever dreams as you wander the Alice in Wonderland sims, or you simply want to be a stylish Neko (are they still a thing in Second Life?), this is a fantastic addition to any wardrobe.

All are currently available in the main store location.  Everything will be available on the Marketplace after the 23rd (basically whenever Linden Lab does the migration to VMM.

One Thing You Need to Know About A Hidden Sanctuary

Awake in the night to whisper your name
Only a silence replies it’s answer a sleeping refrain
The moment dies but memory stays
Love like a run our way by
We spin and we climb
To where once islands cried
And there sometimes angels can be devils too
It’s true of you
It’s true of you – The Damned, Sanctum Sanctorum – Phantasmagoria album

See this post to get the skinny on the Ashe suit, guys.  Then you can hop over to this post for more information on a delightful dress called Evelyn for the ladies.

Walk the Night With Me is a Gothic event in Second Life, which starts July 18.  It will cater to all things dark and romantic, so it was imperative to decorate the booth in rich purples.  Avatar Bizarre’s offerings for this event include a Gothic gown (sort of Virctorian style) for the ladies, and a stylized Victorian style Gothic suit for the guys.  In addition, there’s a Nyarlathotep head sitter with a color HUD available at a special 99L price just for the run of the event.

You can find the event Facebook group page here —> https://www.facebook.com/pages/Hidden-sanctuary-events/479579422210010

Jade Girl – The Dark Heavens Cheongsam

AB Dark Heavens_017

“At only twenty-eight I felt no great rush to settle into anything boring.” – White Tiger, Book 1 of the Dark Heavens Trilogy

In the Dark Heavens trilogy (Kylie Chan), Emma, an Australian living in Hong Kong, suddenly finds herself working as a nanny to the Dark Lord of the Four Winds, Xuan Wu.  He is the black turtle god or Shen, ruler of the Northern Heavens.  He’s a dark creature, the master of all Martial Arts, destroyer of Demons, and the owner of Wudang Mountain both on the Celestial plane and on the Earthly plane.  Five years prior, he had married a mortal woman and they had a child (half Shen, she would grow into a powerful force of nature).  Demons killed the wife of Xuan Wu and her family, leaving the Turtle Shen with his small daughter.

Emma works as a nanny to the Shen’s daughter, but eventually trains in the Arts, discovers she has an innate talent for both physical and energy work, and is able to protect the Dark Lord’s child from Demons, who would kidnap her in order to have power over Xuan Wu.  Of course, she also falls in love with Xuan Wu, though he is unable to touch her without draining her Chi (energy) and killing her.  She loves the daughter as her own, and swears to protect the daughter with her life.

One of the great things about diving into a good set of books is the inspiration, that can be drawn from them.  This is a story told from Emma’s point of view, and she describes all of the Immortals, the Shen, the Retainers, the Dragons, all the great characters from Chinese mythology (including the Jade Girl, the Golden Boy, Bai Hu the White Tiger, and more), and the traditions surrounding the mythical world opened up for her.  She describes a gown worn during a magnificent event; a black Cheongsam with a high Mandarin collar, and golden chrysanthemums embroidered in the silk.

AB Dark Heavens_019
The Dark Heavens Cheongsam is a semi-formal dress with three-quarter sleeves, made from the finest pixel silk, and embroidered in golden flowers.  It’s a gown that accentuates and showcases your figure while giving you a regal appearance.  It’s available in six beautiful jewel-tones, and materials enhanced to really make the embroidery pop.

Dark Heavens Cheongsam is available at Avatar Bizarre’s Marketplace Store and inworld.

“I blame Society.  Society made me what I am…” – Duke, Repoman

And with those famous dying last words of the penultimate mohawk wearing film antogonist, I give you the Spizzenergi ensemble from Avatar Bizarre!  You too can revel in the styles of a bygone era; an era steeped in a crazy and rebellious subculture.  People listened to three chord bands, often discordant, more often than not, hardly able to play their own instruments without a sneer and flailing.  It was a time when you could change your name to Seeth Ransom or Jed Horrid, and create your own bubble of anarchy in a rancid system of broken society and failing governments.  You could dance to your favorite bands, like Dead Kennedys, New York Dolls, Dead Boys, and the Ramones.  You lamented the loss of Johnny Thunders and Sid Vicious.  You rammed safety pins in your nose and leather jacket.  You were a Punk Rocker, and Anarchy reigned supreme.

Named for a band from the late 70s/early 80s (that changed its name every year), this ensemble is 100% rigged mesh, and is available in both male and female versions.  For both genders, the pants and the tank are sold separately, and both come with a color change HUD with six choices.

The tank declares:  “PUNK’S NOT DEAD.  It was bitten by a zombie and now it wants to eat your brain.”

Want to know more?  Fine.  I’ll put on some Black Flag while you head over to the Marketplace or inworld to check things out.

The Skydancer Shoes are here, and they’re ready to make you feel like soaring!  These 100% unrigged mesh shoes are the latest in Avatar Bizarre’s growing footwear collection, and feature a color HUD that gives you seven different color choices.  Along with the full spectrum, these shoes were built to accommodate the SLink male flat foot.  However, as these are modify and copy, you should be able to resize them for the SLink female flat foot.  With a little tweaking of size and position, these should also fit the conventional Second Life avatar foot.  Materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure!

Currently available on the Marketplace and inworld.

Walk the Night With Me is a Hidden Sanctuary Event centered around all things Gothic Wedding and Dark Love.  It takes place July 18th through the 23rd, and will feature all things dark and sticky.  A Gothic Wedding is one that evokes romance with a Victorian flare.

Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to be a part of this event, and will be debuting two new items, which will exclusive at the event until its end, then they will be released to the Marketplace and in the Main Store location afterwards.  The first of these items is the Evelyn, pictured above.  This gown is a lovely Victorian-style garment with a black leather corset, frilly black lace accents at the throat and the wrists, and sumptuous puffed sleeves.  The floor-length skirt is slim, and drapes gorgeously, ending in a lovely sweep on the floor.  The tiny hat adds that Brontean touch, and is finished off with black lace attached to the brim.

As always, all rigged mesh items can be tried on with a handy free DEMO.  This is available in six colors, and includes five sizes and the hat.

Uh Oh, It’s Magic – Djelibeybi Djinnia has arrived

 Grabilla screen capture:

It’s been a banner week.  After winning a hard fought battle with Blender, a couple of brand new outfits have emerged.  Granted, they are female versions of outfits I had already made, but you wouldn’t believe the tantrum Blender threw at the time.  You see, we have a love-hate relationship.  While it’s mostly not that hard to make things, it can be a real challenge to get things to rig properly.  You see, Blender and I have wildly different ideas on how things should move on an avatar’s body, so the gloves get thrown off, and we are steeped in the worst Hockey fight Goon War ever in the history of everything.

But Stubborn pays off.  So does having a couple of days off work, because then a whole lot of time that otherwise wouldn’t exist can be spent in warping the logic that is my program of choice for making mesh things.

If you’ve been paying attention, the last blog post was about the Djelibeybi Djinn.  It’s quite a nice outfit, and was a real challenge for someone unused to making things with transparencies.  Of course, the second it got released, the calls for a female version were screamed from on high.  Okay, I’m not gonna lie:  I had planned to make this outfit all along.  Someone on Second Life Universe (www.sluniverse.com) had mentioned to me that she really wanted see through genie pants.  Now how could I resist such a plea?

The Djelibeybi Djinnia is the result of wrestling with Blender to make it do the right thing, then giving in and remaking something to resemble what I had already made, then making it look nice for women.  It’s similar to the Djinn, in that the legs and sleeves are translucent.  It comes in seven vibrant colors, includes a turban with a resize script, and detachable flexi hip scarves.

And that picture above is Misha, my stalwart model, who puts up with me posing her and insisting on various looks for whatever she’s made to wear.  Truth is, though, she has most of the say in how she looks.  I’m just the photographer and the Maker of Things.

In any case, this outfit, and the Djinn are both available on the Marketplace.  Currently, the Djinn is the only one on the wall at Avatar Bizarre,  The Djinnia will soon follow.  You can get the Djinnia here, and the Djinn here.  Stay tuned for the Phinaea suit.  I haven’t put it out yet, but when that happens, you all should be the first to know.

Djelibeybi Djinn – A Second Life Clothing Tribute to Sir Terry

https://i0.wp.com/i.grab.la/0560a-2cca3c12-1fb4-4887-93ae-1989fc1eb69d.png

It’s time to introduce you folks to an outfit called “Djelibeybi Djinn”.  If the name sounds familiar, you’re either a fan of the late, great Terry Pratchett, or you like jelly beans and happen to be from Enghand.  Either way, this is sort of a homage (in name) to the author of the Discworld series.

While Djelibeybi is technically a culture based on ancient Egypt, this outfit is completely, utterly, and decidedly not very ancient Egyptian.  In fact, one might make the claim that it looks suspiciously like a male belly dancer costume.  While macho male belly dancers exist, surely, a Djinn is not to be taken lightly.  Not only do they have crazy bad tempers from being stuffed into tiny magic lamps all day, but they have a tendency to take you quite literally when you make your three wishes.

Did you rub the lamp and then wish for a yacht?  Did that boat appear right where you were standing – on dry land – on your foot?  Oh yeah, the Djinn is a devious and passive aggressive creature, and you must always be careful what you wish for around them.

You probably don’t want to make fun of a Djinn’s big puffy parachute pants – at least not to his face.  You might end up crammed up to your eyeballs in a lamp.  Unlike Djinn, most humans don’t contort that way.

 Grabilla screen capture:

The Djelibeybi Djinn from Avatar Bizarre is the latest in a long line of costumes for men in Second Life.  It’s rigged mesh, and contains alpha layers, which make the legs and sleeves a bit see through for the jet-setting Djinn, who is always on the go in the hot desert countries.  The turban is elegant with a small ostrich plume set in place with a magnificent gemstone, because Djinni love bling.  The gemstone also embellishes the pants, and pins the flexi hip scarves in place.

Available in seven colors (Black, White, Red, Green, Blue, Teal, Purple), this outfit includes the rigged set in five sizes, an alpha layer to cover up a multitude of sins, a glitch pant to cover up the rest of the sins, an unrigged turban (can be resized as needed), and two flexi prim hip scarves.  The pants work well with SLink feet, and the sleeves were made to accommodate SLink male hands.

Available this weekend on the Marketplace, and inworld at Avatar Bizarre!  And ladies, if you’re looking for your own version, never fear.  That’s coming soon…as soon as I can make Blender behave itself.
