Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair

At-the-corner-of-Haight-and-Ashbury

A long, long time ago, when rock music was still very young, a movement started in San Francisco. It was a time of protesting and change. War was ongoing in Vietnam. People were dodging the draft and heading to the Height in San Francisco.

As the song says, “If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.”

Hippies gathered in Golden Gate Park for sit ins, and love ins. The sound of music filtered through the air, along with the aroma of incense and peppermint (and pot, but who’s counting?)

Twisted Summer of Love is the Twisted Hunt Events inaugural Summer Event, and we chose the Summer of Love as the theme this year. With bright colors and psychedelic patterns, you can be sure there will be plenty of vintage clothing, furniture, and other nifty things for sale from the 60 or so merchants.

We are proud to be an official team member of the Relay Rockers this year.  They perform a Woodstock event for Relay for Life in Second Life every Summer, so this was a natural pairing.

The-time-has-come-today

Avatar Bizarre has several brand new items being released at the event. The Relay for Life items are a male and a female Dashiki Shirt with a color HUD.  The Dashiki, inspired by the African tunic, has a brightly colored pattern over black.  These are rigged mesh, and come in the standard sizes.  The color HUD includes seven colors!  The male shirt definitely works with the SLink male body.  I can’t vouch for the female version, though I assume both bodies share the same alpha HUD.

Lingering-in-Golden-Gate-Park

Avatar Bizarre is also releasing a pair of denim shorts with a peace sign on the right leg. These shorts can be worn with the Dashiki. They also include a seven color HUD, and 5 standard sizes.

Psychedelic-Man

In addition to the Dashikis and the Shorts, There’s a new Twiggy-inpsired mini dress, and Go-Go Boots with a color HUD. So come support Relay for Life, and hit this amazing new event!

You can get there from here.

Way Down Below the Ocean Where I Wanna Be…Scuba Suits Ahoy

https://i1.wp.com/grabilla.com/05318-cbf9e43b-2f8b-4344-87ee-c6381cab364b.png

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to explore the Linden oceans?  Well, as soon as you get that pesky Donovan song out of your head and put on a scuba suit from Avatar Bizarre, you can find out!  It’s slick and smooth like the skin of a dolphin, and it’ll provide your avatar with the comfort and movement you will need as you swim among the creatures of the reef.  The SLink-enhanced flippers are modify and copy, so you can resize them to fit your own feet.  They should fit normal avatar feet, and an alpha is included for feet and for the scuba suit itself.   The mask and snorkel are unrigged mesh, and will also resize if you need it to.

The fantastic part about this ensemble is the color HUD, which gives you eight color choices:  Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Purple, and White.  Everything is Materials enhanced to give the suit its smooth shiny look, as if you’ve stepped from the water after a day of playing with the dolphins.

As you can see, there is a male and a female version, and both include the five standard sizes.  This is available for 250L on the Marketplace and Inworld.  Please feel free to try the demo first.

In the Summertime

Back in the good old days, circa sometime between Victorian times and the early 20th century, beachwear was stunningly attractive, easy to swim in, and made from fabulously heat resistant wool.  Men and women alike daringly showed off their ankles and elbows.  It was quite the love-fest on the beaches of yesteryear, I can tell you!

Avatar Bizarre has long been one of the major providers for Vintage and Historic clothing in Second LIfe and, while there remains a system layer version of the 1900’s Men’s Bathing Costume, it was finally time to dive into the deep end of Mesh to bring you — Yes, you guessed it:  The Mesh 1920s Men’s Bathing Costume!

Like most things mesh attire, this amazing bit of wooly swimwear comes in the five standard sizes, and includes a straw Panama hat, because no man should wander about outside bareheaded.  That’s just barbaric!  Oh, and you get an alpha layer, as well.  But we don’t talk about male underthings.  That’s just crass.

This item is available on the Marketplace and in Second Life at the Avatar Bizarre main store location for a mere 150L.  It should fit custom mesh avatars, in addition to the classic Second Life avatar.  But “should” is a funny word.  Please try the demo before you buy the costume.  I’d be much obliged.

Tiny Bubbles, Great Big Waves, and Hawaiian Shirts

In the world of fashion, there’s good taste, there’s bad taste, and there’s Hawaiian Shirts.  These polyester troublemakers live in the closets of many guys, whether they will admit to it or not.  Some guys will wear nothing but Hawaiian shirts, loud or otherwise.  Traditionally, the Lord of the Luau is as colorful as possible, as is the Beach Bum, the Stoner surfer dude and the lowly Lambda nerd on holiday.  Whatever your fashion sense, and whatever your taste in crazy floral prints, one thing is certain:  A lot of people have an affinity for this Fun in the Sun style.

Avatar Bizarre has finally come out with the Mesh version of its “Spicolli” Hawaiian shirt, inspired partly by Jeff Spicolli of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but also countless other pop culture icons including Don Ho (of Tiny Bubbles fame), Magnum PI, and even Robin Williams, who was known for wearing them in his standup act.  The rigged mesh Hawaiian shirt from Avatar Bizarre comes in three different patterns:  Palm Tree, Palm Frond, and the Ubiquitous tropical flower.  It’s available in a dozen colors, as well, including two muted colors for the more faint of heart.  Hey, even the more color conservative of us could use a Hawaiian shirt!

Each shirt comes with the standard five sizes, plus an alpha.  In addition, you also get a system layer teeshirt (on the jacket layer).  The mesh shirt, itself, is designed to fit over the AB Board Shorts.  The shirt may fit over other types of mesh pants or shorts, but please try the demo before you buy this, just to be sure. All Avatar Bizarre demos are transfer, so you can send the demos to alts or friends.

There are many mesh avatars now available in Second Life and, while this shirt may fit some of them, there is no guarantee.  So again, please try the demo first.  AB Demos are always free.
