Attack of the 50 Foot Toga – A Tale of Wanders Sneak Preview

It was a tale of wanders, the Ancient Ones returned.  A lone wanderer found himself in a magical land populated by dark fae, warriors, and gods.  One morning, he came upon a temple where a goddess stood guard.  Imposing in her stature, and stunning in her simple toga, wrapped with a leather corset embossed with roses, she rules over the temple.

The Aphrodite Toga is a short form fitting dress that highlights and accentuates the mystical beauty of the female form, turning its wearer into a Greek goddess.

The Aphrodite Toga is rigged mesh that comes in the standard sizes, and includes a color HUD with six colors.  It is materials enhanced for your visual pleasure, and will be available at the Hidden Sanctuary A Tale of Wanders event starting August 8.  Cost of the Aphrodite Toga will be 250L.

In addition to this lovely little toga, there will be a fun new Medieval outfit for the men.  More on that in the next post.  Meanwhile, get ready for a fantastic event full of surprises and neat stuff.

Of Heroes, Greece and Togas

Perseus was the stuff of myth and legend in Greece.

Perseus’ mother was Danae, who was the daughter of Acrisius, King of Argos.  Acrisius had no luck in producing a son, so he went to the Oracle at Delphi, who warned that Acrisius would be killed by his daughter’s son.  In order to keep Danae from bearing children, he kept her imprisoned in a bronze chamber that was open to the sky in the palace courtyard.  Zeus came to her as a shower of gold and impregnated her.  Soon after Perseus was born, the King of Argos had Danae and her son put into a wooden chest and cast into the sea because he was fearful of killing the son of Zeus outright.  Eventually Danae and Perseus were found by a fisherman, who raised Persius as his own.  When Persius was grown, he performed many great feats including overcoming the terrible Medusa.  It was also said he tamed the winged horse, Pegasus.  He was married to the daughter of Cassiopeia, after saving her from the sea monster, Cetus as she was chained to a rock.  He eventually became King of Mycenae.

Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to present a toga inspired by a hero of Greek Mythology.  The Perseus Toga, available in seven colors, comes in all five standard sizes, plus an alpha layer.  It’s perfect for role play in Roman and Greek sims, will make you the life of any toga party, and can also be used as garb in all the various Gor sims on the grid.  Though the toga is modify and copy, it is rigged mesh, so cannot be resized.  You can tint it.  You can also rez a copy on the ground and remove the sash if you wish.

This toga is now available inworld and on the marketplace.

The Goddess Hera – A New Fitted Mesh Toga

As you may or may not be aware, Linden Lab has adopted Fitted Mesh into its lexicon of shinies, which periodically make Second Life residents happy.  Fitted mesh, unlike regular rigged mesh, incorporates something like eight extra bones in the rigging.  In layman’s terms, this means that you can use more sliders in the Edit Avatar window while wearing a fitted mesh object, and the mesh on bits like the butt, boobs, and love handles will expand or contract accordingly.  While it isn’t a perfect solution (you will probably still need to wear an alpha to hide pokey outey bits), fitted mesh is a lot more flexible than relying on “standard sizes” which are anything but.

Avatar Bizarre is happy to present its first foray into the world of Fitted mesh:  The Hera Toga.  Each box contains the five standard sizes and alpha, in addition to the fitted mesh toga, just in case folks cannot use the viewers required to see fitted mesh.  If you’re on an older viewer and put on a fitted mesh item, it will likely have a lot of odd bits sticking out from the main mesh, and just generally looks really weird.

The Hera Toga is currently available in seven luscious colors.

Don’t worry, guys, there’s a male fitted mesh toga coming very soon!

On the marketplace and inworld.

The Adventures of Flat Rodvik

There’s a meme going around involving Rodvik Linden or, specifically, the rather handsomely clad flat Rodvik from Strawberry Singh.  I’m not usually one to succumb to memes, but heck, he makes for a fun bit of decor in my shop now.

Meme Instructions: Pick up a Flat Rodvik Linden from my marketplace store for free. (Or make your own using my image or your own image of Rodvik.) Wear or rez him as you travel the grid. Take him to places you think he might not have seen yet and show him a good time. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post or images in the comments of this post so we can all come by and see where you took him

When last we met, Rodvik was soaring high over Avatar Bizarre in a Fokker Triplane, circa 1917.  I’m not sure what kind of protection that toga would be in the middle of a vicious dogfight between Rodvik, and Werner Voss, but you can be rest assured that ol’ Flyboy Flat Rod will come out on top.  Just look at that smug grin!

Good news!  After he won the British Victory Cross for being such a stud in his fantastic flying machine, I sent him a lovely new MESH toga as a reward of service to the Crown and to the world in the fight against the Hun…  Oh wait.  Isn’t that a German plane Rod’s flying?  Waidaminnut, you can’t switch sides like that!  YOU VARMINT, we’ll get you for this!

Oh…wait.  Maybe he’s infiltrating the enemy from within.  That’ll learn ’em.  You go, Rod.

After his flight and subsequent crash, we headed off to have a celebratory drink and conflab with the hungry fungi.  Just a couple of dudes chilling to some Ultravox.

What he’s wearing:
God only knows, but it looks a little flat, don’t you think?

Toga! Toga! Toga!

It’s time for a Toga Party in Second Life!  Of course the differences between real life Toga parties, and those in Second Life are vast and varied.  First of all, it’s a lot harder to get an avatar drunk so your own avatar can get laid in an empty room upstairs at Delta House.  Second, in Second Life, a toga can mean you really are Caligula in digital form.

One of the reasons I wanted to get into making mesh stuff in Blender, at the expense of my sanity and my hair, is because there is not enough historic and fantasy clothing out there, particularly for men.  Once I “got it”, I’ve had no shortage of ideas to expand upon.

Mesh is certainly not a perfect solution, and quite a number of folks can’t wear it because it simply does not fit, but it’s nice to have the option of a little mesh in the store inventory.  That said, the latest addition to the Avatar Bizarre line is the Augustus Toga!

This one was made in five “standard” sizes, and six colors, for a wide array of suitable toga options for the discerning role player and/or frat boy.  Each package includes all five sizes, a pair of rigged sandals (you may need to adjust your legs if they’re gargantuan), an unrigged and modifiable laurel crown, a flexi prim shoulder cloak with mesh clasp, and two alphas.  The alphas included will allow you to wear the toga barefoot, or with sandals.  Your choice.

This wonderful selection is available inworld and on the marketplace.  Please try the free (transferable) demo before you buy.
