It’s a Wondeful Twisted Life – Sneak Preview of Twisted Krissmuss

Twisted-Krissmuss-2015-7

It’s that time of year again; a time of giving, and a time of receiving.  Second Life is home to a lot of shopping events these days, but there’s an event that has been around for a long time, and has evolved into something pretty special in its journey through its years.  Welcome to Twisted Krissmuss.

Twisted-Krissmuss-2015-2

Twisted Krissmuss was created during the holidays following the first Twisted Hunt.  It started off as an instore shopping event, where people could travel from store to store and buy some wonderful items put out for the event.   Each item for the event was new, transferable, and 100L.

Although the previous organizers have since gone on to greener pastures, they left the event to new organizers, who not only kept up the tradition, but made some changes so the event could be held all in one place.  Merchants can show off their wares, but a specially marked, brand new item will be available for 100L, and it will be transferable.

Twisted Krissmuss begins on December 7, and ends in the first week of January.  60 Merchants will have some wonderful items for sale, and there will be gachas galore!  But wait, there’s more!  In addition to the stuff you can buy, there will be several parties held in a special events area with live DJs, giveaways, and more.

As if that weren’t enough, there’s a beautiful sim to wander, take photos, and hang out.  There’s also an ice rink for those who love to go skating.  Skates will be available for free for folks.

I don’t know about you guys, but I love a good Winter Wonderland.

There will be more to come as the event draws near…

Sleigh Bells and the Cableknit Sweater

Winter is coming.  It’s not only a failed attempt on the part of the Starks to instill fear into Westros, but it’s also a (ahem) cold, hard fact.  The Holiday season has slammed its way into our lives like the powerful consumerist juggernaut it is, and with it comes snow, ice, sleet, and all kinds of reasons to enjoy a bit of frostbite with your friends and loved ones.

I live in California, so slieghing behind a magnificent horse wearing jingling tack is just not a normal activity.  But for folks in areas that receive actual weather, and in Second Life, it’s not such a rarity.  Some of my friends had a wonderful time riding behind Buck the Horse in one of Second Life’s most spectacular Winter sims the other day.  You can visit here.  Don’t miss out, because I’m pretty sure this is a holiday thing that will likely be turned into something else later on.

Of course the whole point of my bloggishness is to showcase some brand new Winter wear from Avatar Bizarre!  It’s not usual to find some actual modern day casual clothing options at Avatar Bizarre, since it’s a store that specializes in Gothic, Fantasy, and Historic.  But occasionally, the normal, every day clothing options happen.

This time, it’s a clothing option with a Scottish twist.  Inspired by the traditional woolen cableknit sweaters you might find in any shop on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the Avatar Bizarre Cableknit Sweater is available in both Male and Female options.

There’s also a full range of colors available.  Made only from the highest quality vertices wool, spun into thick, warm woolen mesh yarn from the Blender loom, each sweater package includes five sizes with a twist.  You see, these run a little baggy, because sweaters are supposed to be warm, comfortable, and somewhat bulky.  If you have Advanced Lighting enabled, the knitting pattern stands out nicely for a cozy sweatery feel.

Special thanks go out to Buck the Horse for entertaining all of us in pure equestrian form.  Thanks also goes out to my female model, Misha-Selene, for once again coming through for a wonderful photo shoot.

Wow, so Shibe

If you aren’t up to date with your Internet memes, Doge is sort of like the Shiba Inu version of the LOLcat.  Evidently, “doge” was a misspelling that happened sometime in the last decade or so, and just sort of caught fire and went viral, like so many other things making the rounds on the “tubez”.  And, like most animals on the Internet, even the intrepid little shiba must be subjected to LOLSpeak.

Doge is so wow. OMG hi!  Much pixl.  So avatr.  Much mesh.  Awesum.

The Doge avatar was a lot of fun to make.  No, seriously.  It was.  I know you think I’m lying, because Blender is the Devil, and nobody can possibly have fun working with it, ever, but it’s true!  There aren’t many Shiba Inus in Second Life, and learning how to model (and rig) in Blender presented a golden opportunity to make all those avatars I’ve been aching to create since I logged into that addictive Virtual World.

Having said all that, and you still being in abject disbelief (how d’you think I feel?!?), this little shiba avatar is roughly 1/3 the size of a normal human avatar, and comes with its own little red collar and a tag that says “WOW”.  You also get an optional shape (it helps, trust me), and the ubiquitous full body alpha.

Doge, like the real Shiba Inu, comes in a variety of colors.  Unlike the real Shiba, Doge not only comes in the Breed Standard colors (Red, and Black and Tan), but also Wasabi, Purple, Blue, and Teal.  While I’m sure these little guys aren’t going to win Westminster any time soon, they are great dancers, have an infectious smile, and wear hats rather well.

So where do you get your very own Doge Avatar?  At Avatar Bizarre’s main store location, and the Marketplace, of course!
