Obi One Kimono – Avatar Bizarre is Turning Japanese for 20Twenty

Avatar-Bizarre-Hibari-Kimono-Red

20Twenty is a monthly instore event that starts on the 20th of the month, runs for 20 days, and features exclusive items from 20 designers at 20% off the normal price.  This is a wonderful way to showcase some amazing designers, and Avatar Bizarre is happy to be included in the October edition of 20Twenty!

There is no theme for the event, but I decided it might be fun to make a Japanese kimono for this round.  There will be a couple of new kimonos available at Avatar Bizarre, and they cost 275L each, but the 20Twenty version on sale for 20% off will be the Hibari kimono, which features a pair of sparrows in the branches of a cherry tree.

The kimono comes in six sizes (5 female, and one flat chest femboy size), and includes an unrigged obi bow and a color HUD with several color choices.  It is materials enhanced, and should fit most mesh bodies with their included Alpha HUDS.  In fact, my model, pictured above, is wearing the Maitreya Mesh Body.

Avatar Bizarre Hibari Kimono

If my math is correct, 20% off 275L is roughly 220L.  While the Hibari is on sale, there are two other kimonos available (Ryu and Sakura), which will be full price.  All Kimonos come with their own color HUD.

Magic Dance!

Avatar-Bizarre-Jareth-Costume-Female“You remind me of the babe — What babe?
The babe with the power? — What power?
The power of Voodoo — Who do?
You do — Do what?
Remind me of the babe.” – D. Bowie, Magic Dance (Labyrinth)

Jareth, the King of Goblin City, rules over the Labyrinth.  He is an imposing and magical figure, surrounded by all the fantastic creatures in the World of Labyrinth.  He has all the power he needs, commands a host of sycophantic goblin folk, and has some mad talent for singing and dancing.  Yet he lacks the thing he craves most:  The love of his life.  He sought to please her by taking away her troublesome baby brother, then offered her thirteen hours to find her way through his Labyrinth to his castle in the center of Goblin City.  He reordered time for her.  He did all she asked.  In the end, she rejected him, and he flew off as a great Barn Owl. As perpetrator of Avatar Bizarre, I get my inspiration from a variety of sources, and this outfit is heavily inspired by what David Bowie wore during the Magic Dance scene.  The rigged mesh outfit comes with the standard five sizes for both men and for women, the crescent moon pendant, and a color HUD that changes the colors for both outfit and pendant separately.  The HUD gives you six colors to choose from.

The boots for this outfit are sold separately.  There’s a male version, and a female version (male is simply larger than the female version).  The boots include a color HUD with six colors, as well as being materials enhanced.

Unhallowed Metropolis – Phinaea Suit

 Grabilla screen capture:

In a city, dark and eerie, surrounded by the Vernian Wastelands, a lone figure emerges from the increasing fog in a final showdown…

She gazes unblinkingly at the menacing Dirigible of Doom, flown by her mortal arch-nemesis, a mad man bent on destroying the whole of civilization for his own nefarious gain. Reaching for the weapon in her coat, a powerful electrically charged object designed by Nicola Tesla himself, she takes aim and fires.  The white-hot lightning projects from the muzzle, hitting the dirigible, enveloping it in a blaze so super heated that a shock wave from the explosion could be felt for several hundred meters.  Phinaea remains stoic, unflinching, as her hair is blown back by the shockwave.  The war machine of her arch nemesis seems to drift lazily to the ground, supports and beams floating gently in all directions.  She bends down to retrieve her top hat, wipes a film of dust and soot from the goggles, and wanders off…

Phinaea is the counterpart to the mad men of the Steam age; a woman of strength, who is highly intelligent, yet lives in a Patriarchal society that values beauty over brains.  She works in secret as an agent of Artifact Recovery, seeking out devices and strange items imbued with magical properties, many of which are highly dangerous in any hands.  She is an author, using a famous pseudonym to publish her very real adventures as fiction.  She is Phinaea.

The suit worn by the Inventor, Author, and Adventurer is a twist on a previous release from Avatar Bizarre.  The Phinaea is rigged mesh that has been materials enhanced, and includes a full suit with pocket chain, and a high top hat with tintable goggles.

Become the adventurer you always wanted to be, and do it in style with this beautifully crafted outfit, made from the finest mesh velvet brocade, and lovingly stitched with the strongest of pixel threads.  The sleeves and pants cuffs were made to accommodate SLink hands and feet.  As with all things at Avatar Bizarre, this ensemble is available in several stunning colors.  Available inworld and on the Marketplace.

A Phantom to Lead You…Sneak Preview for World Goth Fair

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city,
To see a marching band… The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance

https://i0.wp.com/i.grab.la/0550a-582806c3-7cfb-42ff-929f-98004c0dce82.png
World Goth Fair is less than a week away.  For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, this is an annual event held on the Cursed sim, which features several merchants and their spectacular Gothic wares, plus a whole lot of live Gothic DJ music. World Goth Fair was originally a charity event, but it will be a little different this year, because Linden Lab has made it mind-bogglingly difficult to set up charity events without huge migraines and small animal sacrifices.  I’m sure they’d insist on virgins being thrown into the nearest pixilated volcano, but those are hard to find in Second Life these days.  I’ll leave it up to you whether you think I mean volcanoes or virgins.

All snarkiness and Linden Lab aside, World Goth Fair is a fantastic outlet for all things Goth.  All the Gothiness will be available in one handy sim.  You can peruse things at your leisure as you listen to some prime Gothic music (Pretentious, Moi? is a perennial favorite with Cursed residents), and there will be a fabulous build for taking pictures of all your awesome new things.

Avatar Bizarre is, once again, a part of World Goth Fair, and will be bringing a few brand new goodies into the mix, including the Sgt. Nemesis Marching Band outfit shown here.

I get by with a little help from my friends, especially when it comes to marching band outfits.  This number, named for half a Beatles album, and all of a Shriekback song, is rigged mesh and includes five sizes and an alpha.  The good news is it comes in six colors.  In even better news, it’s available for both men and women!

With apologies to my normal model, Misha, time got away from me while I was off working on a severe real life deadline, and I suddenly found myself with less than a day to make, texture, and photograph the female version of this outfit.  But a personal note to her:  There’s going to be a Sgt Pepper-Bright version of this outfit pretty soon.  Meanwhile, here’s my mug as a female avatar.

There will be a few other goodies available from Avatar Bizarre, which will debut at World Goth Fair.  Stay Tuned for more!

World Goth Fair opens May 15.  You can get more information at the blog.

https://i2.wp.com/i.grab.la/05408-3c90cba5-26ea-4f1c-927d-9f90236a2bf0.png

Here it is, after a couple of false starts, some Firestorm issues, and a bit of a Blender SNAFU:  The female Mariachi Suit.  You, too, can be a desperado, a Charro, an equestrian.  Grab a guitar and head to the plaza with a couple of good friends and a pint of tequila.  Soon, you will be singing in harmony in this fantastic Charro suit!

See the previous blog post for the male version and such.

What’s Up, Doc? Definitely not your run of the mill clean room bunny suit!

Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin’ down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppin’, Easter’s on its way – G Autry

Easter is roughly a week away, so of course there’s a great need for bunny costumes, right?  Even if there wasn’t a burning need for them, here they are, because it seemed like a fun thing to make and inflict upon the huddled virtual masses in Second Life.  Not only do we have a prime Easter Bunny costume here in lovely rigged mesh, and knitted from the finest virtual Angora rabbits, but this number can double as jammies for that sleepover you’ve been aching to have.  The cool thing about this costume (apart from it being a bunny and all), is it comes with a color HUD that gives you six delightful Springtime Eastery color choices.

I’m sure you already that that this might entail pink.  But not to worry, there’s also purple, yellow, blue, green, and white with pink bits.  Hey, bunnies are fluffy and cute, and come in pastel colors, apparently.  So, if you’re looking for something to wear for your wild funtime Easter parties, hop on over to Avatar Bizarre and grab your bunny suit today!  Cost is 150L.

Available inworld and on the marketplace.

Way Down Below the Ocean Where I Wanna Be…Scuba Suits Ahoy

https://i1.wp.com/grabilla.com/05318-cbf9e43b-2f8b-4344-87ee-c6381cab364b.png

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to explore the Linden oceans?  Well, as soon as you get that pesky Donovan song out of your head and put on a scuba suit from Avatar Bizarre, you can find out!  It’s slick and smooth like the skin of a dolphin, and it’ll provide your avatar with the comfort and movement you will need as you swim among the creatures of the reef.  The SLink-enhanced flippers are modify and copy, so you can resize them to fit your own feet.  They should fit normal avatar feet, and an alpha is included for feet and for the scuba suit itself.   The mask and snorkel are unrigged mesh, and will also resize if you need it to.

https://i1.wp.com/grabilla.com/05318-766041bc-d739-4ef1-b052-96545ebc426b.png

The fantastic part about this ensemble is the color HUD, which gives you eight color choices:  Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Purple, and White.  Everything is Materials enhanced to give the suit its smooth shiny look, as if you’ve stepped from the water after a day of playing with the dolphins.

As you can see, there is a male and a female version, and both include the five standard sizes.  This is available for 250L on the Marketplace and Inworld.  Please feel free to try the demo first.

Lovecraft Wake – The Chesuncook High Priestess

https://i0.wp.com/i.gyazo.com/7a4cbcee0f801d2275ce3560101e4917.jpg

This is a sneak peak at a new thing from Avatar Bizarre.  Given how many horrifying Lovecraft-inspired avatars I’ve made lately, it was probably time for something a little softer and a little prettier.

The Chesuncook Witch Coven, or the Cult of the Skull, is a group of witches and warlocks who worship Shub-Niggurath.  Ol’ Shub is one of Lovecraft’s Outer Gods, which is described as The Black Goat in the Woods with a Thousand Young.  While it’s mostly a genderless being, Shub-Niggurath is often portrayed as female, and gives birth to a lot of male offspring that resemble walking trees.  Her presence inspires madness and degeneration.

The Chesuncook coven meets in the deepest darkest woods of Maine, regularly calling on Shub-Niggurath for guidance.  It is said their ceremonies sometimes involve descending into a dark pit full of Shoggoth.

The Chesuncook High Priestess has been materials enhanced for a luscious leather feel and a subtle iridescence on the scale pattern of the skirt.  Available March 9, this gown will debut at Lovecraft’s Wake in Second Life.  There are six colors, and the demo is free!
