So Goth I Poop Bats
September was a slow month for me, as far as the whole DJ thing. What with computer issues, Dragonboat San Francisco, and probably a slew of unrelated excuses, the weekly party just refused to happen for me. However, the end of the month went out with a bang.
The party was so very goth, and flooded with many goth people, or at least gothly clad folks. There was a smattering of requests, but I mostly inflicted my own particular brand of musical chaos on the huddled masses. While sticking mostly to genre, a couple of post-punk and new wave gems found their way into the mix. Not bad for a three hour stint at the SAM decks.

Circus, Crazy Circus
Have you ever thought, “Wow, clowns are a great idea!” and then suddenly remembered you really don’t like clowns because they’re evil and cannot be trusted? Surely, they partake of human flesh. We’ve all seen it happen; a clown lying in wait with just his insidious face flickering in the shadows of the sewer grate, waiting for an opportunity to grab some poor, unsuspecting soul by the ankle and chomping down on it with jagged sharp teeth. Yes, so naturally we all associate clowns with horror. At least I do.
Why then did I suggest we have a circus theme for this week’s event? I honestly didn’t. I said, “Carnival”, and the powers that be heard, “Oh, Sred’s afraid of clowns, so it must be Circus time.”
As it turns out, there are a lot of people so disturbed by clowns that they’ve written an awful lot of scary songs about those nefarious beasties. In spite of the circus theme, NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY showed up looking like a clown. That should tell you something right there. Sure, ring masters and people in carnival attire turned up. Heck, we even had an ass with bat wings in a speedo. Thankfully, no clowns.
We did have a dancing unicorn that showed up just as the end song came on. It was remarkably great timing.
