Blogging the Bloop!

Avatar-Bizarre-Dashiki-Cthulhu
Hello, my droogs and devotchkas.  I know it’s been a dog’s age since I’ve posted.  Summer happened, and so did a fair bit of “Do I really feel like doing this” feelings.  Need more excuses?  Throw in a bit of Real Life, a head injury, and Pokemon Go, and you have a perfect storm of procrastination.

I know you’re aching to know, so I’ll tell you:  I only have to get a Porygon and a Lapras to complete the North American Pokedex.  With that out of the way, let’s get to some other points.

Sometimes, you just have to take a break, even if it’s super extended.  But Avatar Bizarre isn’t going anywhere, and neither am I.

Avatar-Bizarre-Bloop-Pants-and-Dashiki-Cthulhu

Avatar Bizarre is proud to be a part of the BOHO event in Second Life for the very first time.  For those who may be interested in Bohemian clothing, or even hippie duds, or you just want to raid Johnny Depp’s closet, you can head over here, starting on October 21.  The BOHO event lasts till November 4, so you have a couple of weeks to head out and get the Avatar Bizarre Bloop pants and shirts collection.

The pants (available for women, as well), are priced at roughly 50% off, and include a color HUD.  These fitted pants come in solid -or- striped (sold separately), and cost 99l for the duration of the event.  There’s a nifty matching shirt (solid colors only), also with a color HUD (fitmesh) for the same price.  For men, the pants come in fitted, and simple rigged versions (rigged is “medium”).  Women’s shirt and pants come with “regular” and “hourglass” sizes.

The Dashiki Cthulhu is a shoulder pet that can be repositioned however you want.  It’s also modify and copy, so you can use it as decor, though with the shirt, it’s roughly 9LI.  Sizing up can make the LI jump a bit higher.  The critter sitting in the booth is 12LI.  Without the shirt, it is much less.

So come one, come all, and fit some Bloop to your Body.  Meanwhile, I’m making a concerted effort to stop neglecting this blog thing here.  Cheers!

Super Villainous Heroes!

Avatar-Bizarre-Super-Hero-Cthulhu

Greetings, Friends.

I know it’s been a while since your faithful narrator has given you tales of epic wonder and horrific delight, but as some folks say, some things are worth the wait.  There’s also a saying that goes, “Big things come in little packages.”

Some things don’t come in packages at all. Introducing, for a very limited time, SUPER HERO CTHULHU!

BOW to their terrible visage.  TREMBLE at their baleful glare.  HOPE that they don’t lay waste to the world in which we live!  The Dork Cthulhu and Wonder’thulhu are on the rampage throughout the city, casting venomous shadows across the land, and instilling fear in the bravest heroes.

These shoulder pets are available for 50L each at the Deviled Egg Comic Con, which runs through September 30.  You can get there from here.

Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair

At-the-corner-of-Haight-and-Ashbury

A long, long time ago, when rock music was still very young, a movement started in San Francisco. It was a time of protesting and change. War was ongoing in Vietnam. People were dodging the draft and heading to the Height in San Francisco.

As the song says, “If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.”

Hippies gathered in Golden Gate Park for sit ins, and love ins. The sound of music filtered through the air, along with the aroma of incense and peppermint (and pot, but who’s counting?)

Twisted Summer of Love is the Twisted Hunt Events inaugural Summer Event, and we chose the Summer of Love as the theme this year. With bright colors and psychedelic patterns, you can be sure there will be plenty of vintage clothing, furniture, and other nifty things for sale from the 60 or so merchants.

We are proud to be an official team member of the Relay Rockers this year.  They perform a Woodstock event for Relay for Life in Second Life every Summer, so this was a natural pairing.

The-time-has-come-today

Avatar Bizarre has several brand new items being released at the event. The Relay for Life items are a male and a female Dashiki Shirt with a color HUD.  The Dashiki, inspired by the African tunic, has a brightly colored pattern over black.  These are rigged mesh, and come in the standard sizes.  The color HUD includes seven colors!  The male shirt definitely works with the SLink male body.  I can’t vouch for the female version, though I assume both bodies share the same alpha HUD.

Lingering-in-Golden-Gate-Park

Avatar Bizarre is also releasing a pair of denim shorts with a peace sign on the right leg. These shorts can be worn with the Dashiki. They also include a seven color HUD, and 5 standard sizes.

Psychedelic-Man

In addition to the Dashikis and the Shorts, There’s a new Twiggy-inpsired mini dress, and Go-Go Boots with a color HUD. So come support Relay for Life, and hit this amazing new event!

You can get there from here.

The Mighty RAR!!

The-Mighty-RAR

This month’s Genre is all about sports, and what better way to show your appreciation of a favorite team than with your very own official jersey? The Mighty RAR is the fiercest team ever to breathe fire at the other side’s goons. They’re a juggernaut of power on the ice, perfect for when Winter finally arrives in Westros.

Genre is a monthly event with a different theme each month. Each merchant provides a new item, to be priced at 100L or lower for the duration of the event. Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to bring you the latest in Hockey fashion with a jersey that includes a seven color HUD! Be the envy of the opposing team when you show up to cheer on your favorite players.

In a World of Pure Imagination

Avatar-Bizarre-Sweet-Tooth

When you have a sweet tooth as rampantly out of control as mine, you tend to revel in all things chocolate, including Willy Wonka. When I first logged into Second Life, one of my friends was even more into the story of Willy Wonka than I am, and that’s saying quite a lot, considering I’ve been known to Cosplay Willy Wonka in real life. In fact, some folks only knew me as “M.W.Wonka” for the longest time.

When I first built Avatar Bizarre in Second Life, one of the initial outfits for sale was The Candy Man, a costume inspired by the Johnny Depp version of Willy Wonka. You know, the really creepy one, as opposed to Gene Wilder’s more frantic, chaotic, mildly sociopathic version. Love them or hate them, these men shaped how we think of the character. Naturally, Second Life needed influence from both.

Avatar-Bizarre-Chocolatier

Flash forward to a bunch of years later, and Second Life’s creation process has mostly ditched the old system layer clothing to favor mesh. Since I’m still a fan of the books and movies, I decided to let them inspire me for a new outfit. Enter The Chocolatier, an ensemble that is loosely based on the Johnny Depp Wonka.

This outfit includes a fit mesh jacket/waistcoat/shirt, a shiny top hat, a peppermint candy neck pin, a cane (with a pose), system pants in six colors, Omega clothing appliers (for those with mesh bodies), and a color HUD for the jacket.

Avatar-Bizarre---Ginger-Buddy

There’s some really good news for folks who are into dressing up: This outfit is also available for women (regular and hourglass shapes), and femboys!

Don’t worry, folks. I got you covered.

Available soon for the Melting Pot event.

A Mighty Megalithic Man – Fantasy Faire Lucentia Tour

Fantasy Faire - Lucentia Region

After wandering through the dark faerie land of Otherworld, I decided to head back to Lucentia for a bit of a rest, and to collect my bearings for the next tour of this fantastic Second Life event.

Lucentia is more subdued than the other regions, but no less spectacular.  It is nestled on a quiet meadow, and is awe-inspiring in its sheer magnitude.  Greek Ionic columns tower mightily above a shimmering lake.  An electrifying giant crystal glimmers just off the water’s edge, inviting you to bask in its dazzling glory.

Wandering Lucentia - A Tour of Fantasy Faire

As I moved away from my resting spot, I flew up to the crystal and was spotted by a Titan.  I’ve seen a couple of these giants moving across the Fairelands, but didn’t get too close…until now.  We ended up on the same walkway, but he was nice enough not to squish me under those gargantuan boots.  Thank you, Mega Man!

Wandering Lucentia - A Tour of Fantasy Faire He is rather a nice fellow, so if you see him wander, say Hello. Wandering Lucentia - A Tour of Fantasy Faire

It’s hard not to feel a bit tiny and insignificant around such large and grandiose buildings.  If you find yourself wandering in Lucentia, definitely hit up some of the wonderful merchants there, and help the fight against cancer!

Now that I’ve gained my bearings, I’m off to the next sim. See you there!

Otherworld – a Tour of Fantasy Faire

Fantasy Faire - In Otherworld as a Flying Qilin
Fantasy Faire, Second Life’s biggest Relay for Life Fantasy themed charity event, is currently in full swing.  It opened to the public on April 21, and as of this writing, the event has brought in over $11,000 USD for The American Cancer Society!

Avatar Bizarre, as mentioned before, has a booth at the Faire, and thank you to everyone who is buying things from me and the other merchants.  Every little bit helps.

I decided to take a little tour of all 13 sims the other day.  The first few photos were a whirlwind “If This Is Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium” tour, which resulted in one photo in every sim over the course of a night.

But it really doesn’t do the faire justice.  So I wanted to spend a little time visiting each sim, and showing off some really neat builds, while also showing off some of the things Avatar Bizarre has to offer.

Fantasy Faire - In Otherworld as a Flying Qilin

The Otherworld Sim is an incredible mix of glowing plants, spires, and natural formations.  Otherworld is nestled far from the trade routes, boats and trails, roads and civilization are unknown.  It’s a breath away from you, just beyond the shimmering mist. This is a mysterious and magical place, the world of heroes and gods of the Faerie Realm.

I wandered aimlessly, always trying to capture that fleeting glimpse in the corner of my eye.  Non-corporeal beings hid in plain site, always just out of reach; flickering lights and echoing laughter haunting the lonely traveler.

Fantasy Faire - In Otherworld as a Flying Qilin

Sponsored by Cerridwen’s  Cauldron and built by Elicio Ember, this sim is host to many fine merchants, so don’t forget to check out their booths while you explore this mystical realm of Faerie.

I flew through the crystal caves on my way to the next new adventure, but couldn’t resist the temptation to admire the glowing treasures up close.

Fantasy Faire - In Otherworld as a Flying Qilin

I’m a real fan of shiny things, as you can see.  They’re a wonderful distraction, and look spectacular in every way.

I could keep adding photos, but there’s just so much to see and so many things to do!  It’s difficult to keep from going broke in this event, but I have to say that the quality of all the merchants, the fun of the Quest (you can get your Quest HUD at all the sim landing points), and the amazing team who brought us yet another great Fantasy Faire, this is one of the reasons Second Life is such an amazing place.

Stay tuned for more adventures from the Fairelands, brought to you by little old me.

Lucentia is a Fantasy Come True

AB-Fantasy-Faire_001

Fantasy Faire is now OPEN!  For those of you who have somehow missed this momentous Second Life Event, it happens every April, without fail.  It encompasses several sims, each of which has a different builder.  All builders have unique and spectacular ideas for the look of the sim to which they’ve been assigned.  The Faire exists to raise money for Relay for Life, and boy do they ever!  Between all the merchants selling things on RFL vendors, and all the donation kiosks and gotya machines, they raise thousands of dollars to eradicate cancer.  You can get to Lucentia Sim here —>  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lucentia/65/129/53

AB-Fantasy-Faire_003

Once again, Avatar Bizarre is playing a part in the Faire, offering a few items as donations to the cause.  The booth is located at the Lucentia Sim, an epic expanse of Greek columns and glowing things, surrounded by water.

Of course, you should see what’s lurking around the booth, but here’s a bit of a sample for you good folks.

The Gaia, Gaius, and Zaahn Boots are the Relay for Life offerings. 100% of proceeds go to Relay for Life!

Der Fledermaus

Avatar-Bizarre-Fledermaus-IV
20Twenty is fast approaching, and this means Avatar Bizarre will have something new available at 20% off normal price for the duration of the event, staring April 20.

Fledermaus, which means “Bat”, is a Gothic suit that includes a high collared coat and shirt (mostly just the front part of the shirt), plus Omega pants appliers for mesh bodies.  For non mesh bodies, the system layer pants are included in all the colors.  The coat has a color HUD, and is materials enhanced.

Avatar-Bizarre-Fledermaus-III

I originally made this because someone asked me to make a Gothic coat she could wear.  But then things just sort of spiraled into a big production and the suit happened.  This coat fits nicely on the SLink Male Phsyique (pictured here, actually).  You just have to use the alpha HUD included with the body.  But it moves nicely, and works well for the discerning Goth.

Avatar-Bizarre-Fledermaus-VI
The boots, pictured above, are sold separately and come rigged and unrigged.  If you look closely at the heel, you’ll see a little bat imprinted underneath.

Welcome to Sherwood – A Sneak Preview

Fantasy Faire is nearly upon us!  This is the premiere event for all things fantasy and Relay for Life.  Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to once again be involved with the Fantasy Faire, and has several items for sale, starting April 21 (Faire opens at 9am, slt).

Robin Hood is a well-known and beloved legend.  Everyone knows he robbed from the rich, and gave to the poor, surrounded by his Merry Men.  He spent a lot of time getting the better of the Sheriff of Nottingham, and also managed to get the girl.

Robin-Hood-Relaxing-in-the-Forest-of-Dreams
