Back from the Dead!

Greetings and Salutations, my droogs and devotchkas!  It’s been a dog’s age since I’ve posted, mostly because I was feeling a little burned out for a while there.  Plus I found a few things to occupy my time away from the computer.  I know, I know…what life, right?

There’s a lot of news in the world of Avatar Bizarre, oddly enough, but that will trickle through the ether over the next few days.  Meanwhile, have you ever heard of an eye condition called Polycoria?

This is a condition that causes an extra pupil opening in the eye, sometimes caused genetically, and sometimes it occurs as a result of some gnarly eye diseases.  Either way, it’s pretty neat looking.

If you’re on Second Life, and you want some bizarre eyeballs, head over to Avatar Bizarre for a set of Polycoria eyes.  There are two separate packages:  One includes a set of mesh eyes, nine system layer eyes, and a color HUD for the mesh eyes.  The second package is a color HUD OMEGA applier with nine colors for those of you who have OMEGA compatible heads.

As you can see, the appliers work pretty well.  My head is a LOGO Ethan mesh head.  The skin is Nivaro Crow.  The hair is Exile High n’ Dry.  And the face is…well a face.

Blogging the Bloop!

Hello, my droogs and devotchkas.  I know it’s been a dog’s age since I’ve posted.  Summer happened, and so did a fair bit of “Do I really feel like doing this” feelings.  Need more excuses?  Throw in a bit of Real Life, a head injury, and Pokemon Go, and you have a perfect storm of procrastination.

I know you’re aching to know, so I’ll tell you:  I only have to get a Porygon and a Lapras to complete the North American Pokedex.  With that out of the way, let’s get to some other points.

Sometimes, you just have to take a break, even if it’s super extended.  But Avatar Bizarre isn’t going anywhere, and neither am I.

Avatar Bizarre is proud to be a part of the BOHO event in Second Life for the very first time.  For those who may be interested in Bohemian clothing, or even hippie duds, or you just want to raid Johnny Depp’s closet, you can head over here, starting on October 21.  The BOHO event lasts till November 4, so you have a couple of weeks to head out and get the Avatar Bizarre Bloop pants and shirts collection.

The pants (available for women, as well), are priced at roughly 50% off, and include a color HUD.  These fitted pants come in solid -or- striped (sold separately), and cost 99l for the duration of the event.  There’s a nifty matching shirt (solid colors only), also with a color HUD (fitmesh) for the same price.  For men, the pants come in fitted, and simple rigged versions (rigged is “medium”).  Women’s shirt and pants come with “regular” and “hourglass” sizes.

The Dashiki Cthulhu is a shoulder pet that can be repositioned however you want.  It’s also modify and copy, so you can use it as decor, though with the shirt, it’s roughly 9LI.  Sizing up can make the LI jump a bit higher.  The critter sitting in the booth is 12LI.  Without the shirt, it is much less.

All the World’s a Stage

…And all the men and women merely players.

It’s time to let you all know about a new outfit that has entered Stage Left.  Inspired by Tudor fashions from the Renaissance and beyond, the Tiziano is a fitmesh outfit for male avatars, and includes a color HUD with seven color options.  Its classic Renaissance design is both masculine and attractive, and it’s perfect for a spot of fantasy or Tudor role play.

The doublet and pants combination is materials enhanced.  The unrigged hat is topped with a couple of pheasant feathers.

The outfit includes Omega stocking appliers (all colors), plus system layer socks for those folks who haven’t yet taken a drink from the mesh body Kool-Aid.  The color HUD for the suit gives you seven color options, including white.

The most excellent news is, this outfit is now available on the marketplace and inworld!  So come and get it.

Seeing the World Through Purple Tinted Glasses

It’s time yet again for //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js” target=”_blank”>Vintage Faire in Second Life.  Avatar Bizarre’s participation in this event was purely by chance.  Well sort of.  The call went out to be a last minute fill in.  Literally last minute.  So last minute, that set up for merchant booths was supposed to be complete five minutes before I said “Yes, I’ll do it!”

But Vintage is what I do.  And lots of it.

As I scrambled to put together a few things for the booth, the Vintage Faire exclusive is this set of John Lennon-inspired glasses.  These are modify and copy, and include a color HUD with nine colors (the frames are kind of a blackie purple deal with all nine lens colors).  The glasses are materials enhanced for a bit of extra oomph.

This pair of glasses will look good on just about anyone, and I was told I looked like Top Gun Tom Cruise when I wear them. I’m not sure about that, but hey, if you like Tom Cruise in Top Gun, then I’m okay with the comparison.

There’s nothing like the rush of getting signed up for an event that needs you to be set up three days ago. I love every minute of this stuff, though, so hopefully you folks enjoy the Vintage Faire. There’s a lot of neat stuff this year; something for everyone.

Under the Cherry Moon

I’m a child of the 80s. I was entering high school just before Reagan began his second term in office, and since I wasn’t particularly into politics as a kid, I spent most of my free time scouring record stores for good new music, hanging out with the new wave kids, and generally living my life on the edge of whatever was considered fashion back then.

Although I was more into 80s alternative, pop forty music was prevalent in my world. Part of that experience was the omnipresent Prince, later to be called The Artist, while he was having his little tiff with the record company that signed him. I have to admit that at the time I wasn’t a huge fan of Prince, though I did enjoy some of his music. I also thought Purple Rain was a pretty good movie. It was up there with all the John Hughes movies, and Labyrinth, as far as 80s great cinema.

No matter what anyone might have thought about Prince, he certainly was a Force of Nature. He could play all those instruments, and wrote some fantastic songs (mostly about sex). Thirty nine albums into his career, he shuffled off this mortal coil and left a giant purple Prince-sized hole in our collective psyche.

As a DJ in Second Life, I have to admit that the Year of Tributes is wearing a little thin. We’ve lost a number of our teenage heroes; from Michael Jackson to Lemmy, Bowie to Prince. As a clothing maker, I felt the need to create a suit inspired by one of Prince’s most iconic outfits. He rocked the ruffles, and looked suave in high-waisted pants.

Avatar Bizarre’s Cherry Moon was made for those who wish to honor their fallen musical hero in some small way. Made for both the male and the female avatar, the jacket is on a color HUD (six colors), and is materials enhanced. It’s currently available inworld, and will be on the marketplace in a couple of days.

If It’s Not Baroque, Don’t Fix It

The thing I really love about Second Life is the abundance of fashions that never should have gone away.  Personally, I prefer a good frock coat to jeans and a teeshirt, and the latest design certainly proves that.

The good news about the Privateer outfit is the fact that you can get a female version, as well as a male version.  Or you will.  The female version’s not quite finished yet, but it will be soon.  It’s just an upload and a texture HUD away from completion.  The male version is inworld, and due for Marketplace madness in a day or so  But the truth is, I’ve been working flat out to get stuff ready for Fantasy Faire, Twisted Summer of Love, and a couple other events I’m totally blanking on, so putting out regular releases is getting pushed to the back burner.

In spite of all the procrastination, and making of things, and a flurry of “OMG I MUST MAKE EYE APPLIERS FOR OMEGA!!” I’ve taken a tiny bit of time to clean myself up a bit and show off the suit.

Privateer comes with a color HUD (six colors) for the meshy bits, an Omega clothing applier HUD for the pants (again six colors), plus system layer pants in six colors for those folks still rocking the default Second Life avatar.  It’s been materials enhanced, so the textures pop in the right windlights.

Never fear!  If you’re wondering, the boots in these pictures were made to match!  The Privateer Boots with Color HUD are sold separately, and feature a one inch heel for a little extra elan.  After all, if you’re going to sport a frock coat like this, you need some clicky heels in your dashing knee high boots!

Like the suit, these boots include a color HUD.  Each package contains two rigged sizes (male and female), and an unrigged pair that can be resized and/or repositioned.  Of course, they’ve also been materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.

Welcome to Sherwood – A Sneak Preview

Fantasy Faire is nearly upon us!  This is the premiere event for all things fantasy and Relay for Life.  Avatar Bizarre is thrilled to once again be involved with the Fantasy Faire, and has several items for sale, starting April 21 (Faire opens at 9am, slt).

Robin Hood is a well-known and beloved legend.  Everyone knows he robbed from the rich, and gave to the poor, surrounded by his Merry Men.  He spent a lot of time getting the better of the Sheriff of Nottingham, and also managed to get the girl.

The Robin Hood is a versatile costume for anyone wishing to play in the forests of Merry Olde England, or any forest full of Faerie folk, dragons, and knights in shining armor.  The bandit outfit includes five sizes for the rigged mesh doublet, system shirts and pants in eight colors, plus an OMEGA clothing appliers HUD for mesh bodies (please be sure your body is supported by OMEGA before you buy this outfit).  There’s also a plumed hat, and alpha.

The boots pictured are “Gawain Boots with color HUD”.  These are rigged and unrigged.  All mesh items are materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.

A Fantasy of Fever Dreams – Zaahn Preview

The lone traveler contemplated his fate.  He had been forcefully sent to a desolate and eerie island, where little made sense.  The carnival was deserted, and little wonder why.  The clown statues littering the grounds appeared sinister and dangerous.  They loomed through the mist, menacing grimaces that must have delighted once, though he doubted it.  He didn’t like clowns.  It was a trust issue; you couldn’t feel safe around a creature with a grin that wide, yet so dark and wretched inside.

The traveler was undaunted by the menacing clown as he attempted a trick he’d learned long ago.  He was surprised to learn he still had the strength for the trick on a stack of chairs.  Still, that clown…  A trickle of cold sweat coursed down the back of his neck.  With a lurch, he tumbled off the chair and rolled away from that clown in haste.  Why are there so many clowns?  Why won’t that incessant creepy laughter die down?

He’d had enough.  He left the carnival and wandered the rest of the lonely island till he came upon a dead tree.  “How can I get off this wretched island?” he thought miserably.  “Can’t sleep.  Clowns will eat me.”

The Zaahn is Avatar Bizarre’s latest creation.  Available soon at Fantasy Faire, it includes 5 standard sizes, system layer underpants in all colors, an Omega pants applier for mesh bodies, and an alpha.  The boots are available as a separate item, and also include a color HUD with all the color options, and two sizes (male/female).  Everything has been materials enhanced for your viewing pleasure.  Zaahn will be available for men and for women.

A Knight of the Round Table

Looking for a nice medieval sim in Second Life when your connection has decided to go back to the 1200 BAUD days is really, really difficult.  Really, it is.  That said, one quagmire lag filled thirty minutes, then a fifteen minute hiatus from the Internet later produced this picture and blog.  You see how dedicated some people can be to this stuff?

The Gawain, named for one of King Arthur’s fine Camelot knights, is the latest outfit from Avatar Bizarre.  It features a color HUD with seven color choices (red, green, teal, blue, purple, black, and white), an Omega pants applier HUD for the various mesh bodies out there (check out the Omega blog for a list of compatible bodies), seven system layer underpants, an alpha, five sizes, and materials.  This is available for women, as well.

This will debut at Genre. As Genre is one of those super awesome shopping events where you can get deep discounts on new things, you can buy this wonderful outfit for 100L, starting March 15.  Once this round of Genre is over, the price goes up.

Oh, and I almost forgot!  In addition to this outfit, there will be a pair of nifty boots at Genre for 99L (regular price is 175:).  These are brand new, made with the Gawain in mind.  They were built to go over system layers or Omega layers.  They may have a little difficulty with mesh pants.

These come with a large and a small rigged pair, along with an unrigged pair, an alpha, and a color HUD.

Magic Is In The Air – a Sneak Preview

Gaius was once a powerful sorcerer in the land of Albion, but when Uther outlawed magic, Gaius hid his powers and became the Court Physician.  He was wise beyond his considerable years, and hid his powers; concocting tinctures and potions to heal the sick and wounded with only his knowledge of herbs and fungi.

Avatar Bizarre will soon be releasing the Gaius Robes, a wonderful new outfit that includes the inner garment and an outer robe, both of which are on a color HUD to give you several color combinations!

The female version, the Gaia, will be much the same, only a lot more feminine.
