Blogging the Bloop!

Avatar-Bizarre-Dashiki-Cthulhu
Hello, my droogs and devotchkas.  I know it’s been a dog’s age since I’ve posted.  Summer happened, and so did a fair bit of “Do I really feel like doing this” feelings.  Need more excuses?  Throw in a bit of Real Life, a head injury, and Pokemon Go, and you have a perfect storm of procrastination.

I know you’re aching to know, so I’ll tell you:  I only have to get a Porygon and a Lapras to complete the North American Pokedex.  With that out of the way, let’s get to some other points.

Sometimes, you just have to take a break, even if it’s super extended.  But Avatar Bizarre isn’t going anywhere, and neither am I.

Avatar-Bizarre-Bloop-Pants-and-Dashiki-Cthulhu

Avatar Bizarre is proud to be a part of the BOHO event in Second Life for the very first time.  For those who may be interested in Bohemian clothing, or even hippie duds, or you just want to raid Johnny Depp’s closet, you can head over here, starting on October 21.  The BOHO event lasts till November 4, so you have a couple of weeks to head out and get the Avatar Bizarre Bloop pants and shirts collection.

The pants (available for women, as well), are priced at roughly 50% off, and include a color HUD.  These fitted pants come in solid -or- striped (sold separately), and cost 99l for the duration of the event.  There’s a nifty matching shirt (solid colors only), also with a color HUD (fitmesh) for the same price.  For men, the pants come in fitted, and simple rigged versions (rigged is “medium”).  Women’s shirt and pants come with “regular” and “hourglass” sizes.

The Dashiki Cthulhu is a shoulder pet that can be repositioned however you want.  It’s also modify and copy, so you can use it as decor, though with the shirt, it’s roughly 9LI.  Sizing up can make the LI jump a bit higher.  The critter sitting in the booth is 12LI.  Without the shirt, it is much less.

So come one, come all, and fit some Bloop to your Body.  Meanwhile, I’m making a concerted effort to stop neglecting this blog thing here.  Cheers!

Super Villainous Heroes!

Avatar-Bizarre-Super-Hero-Cthulhu

Greetings, Friends.

I know it’s been a while since your faithful narrator has given you tales of epic wonder and horrific delight, but as some folks say, some things are worth the wait.  There’s also a saying that goes, “Big things come in little packages.”

Some things don’t come in packages at all. Introducing, for a very limited time, SUPER HERO CTHULHU!

BOW to their terrible visage.  TREMBLE at their baleful glare.  HOPE that they don’t lay waste to the world in which we live!  The Dork Cthulhu and Wonder’thulhu are on the rampage throughout the city, casting venomous shadows across the land, and instilling fear in the bravest heroes.

These shoulder pets are available for 50L each at the Deviled Egg Comic Con, which runs through September 30.  You can get there from here.

All the World’s a Stage

Avatar-Bizarre---Tiziano-Tudor

…And all the men and women merely players.

It’s time to let you all know about a new outfit that has entered Stage Left.  Inspired by Tudor fashions from the Renaissance and beyond, the Tiziano is a fitmesh outfit for male avatars, and includes a color HUD with seven color options.  Its classic Renaissance design is both masculine and attractive, and it’s perfect for a spot of fantasy or Tudor role play.

The doublet and pants combination is materials enhanced.  The unrigged hat is topped with a couple of pheasant feathers.

The outfit includes Omega stocking appliers (all colors), plus system layer socks for those folks who haven’t yet taken a drink from the mesh body Kool-Aid.  The color HUD for the suit gives you seven color options, including white.

The most excellent news is, this outfit is now available on the marketplace and inworld!  So come and get it.

I’m a Sucker For Tentacles!

Alecto-Tentacles-Again

Sometimes inspiration hits, and you end up making something that kills a few birds with a single well-aimed rock.

One day I was lamenting the lack of a decent mesh mohawk in my inventory. Yes, yes, I know I can go places and get things that might work out for whatever look I’m randomly striving for, but where’s the fun in that? Besides, with as much random weird stuff as I’ve made in the past, it was a natural progression to attempt “hair”.

In quotes.

Because, you know, it’s tentacles. You either love them or you hate them. In some cases, if you’re into weird Manga porn, you really love them. Whatever the case, this mohawk happened.

I’m quite proud of this thing. For one thing, it’s my first successful attempt at “hair” in Second Life. Then there’s the whole slimy and moist look achieved with materials. No self-respecting Punk should be without a good mohawk, don’t you think?

This bad boy is modify and copy, and includes a color HUD with six colors to choose from. It’s about as unisex as you can get in Second Life, but if you aren’t sure, there is a demo you can try on.

Available inworld and on the marketplace.

Seeing the World Through Purple Tinted Glasses

Rocking-the-Lennon-Glasses-for-Vintage-Faire

It’s time yet again for //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js” target=”_blank”>Vintage Faire in Second Life.  Avatar Bizarre’s participation in this event was purely by chance.  Well sort of.  The call went out to be a last minute fill in.  Literally last minute.  So last minute, that set up for merchant booths was supposed to be complete five minutes before I said “Yes, I’ll do it!”

But Vintage is what I do.  And lots of it.

As I scrambled to put together a few things for the booth, the Vintage Faire exclusive is this set of John Lennon-inspired glasses.  These are modify and copy, and include a color HUD with nine colors (the frames are kind of a blackie purple deal with all nine lens colors).  The glasses are materials enhanced for a bit of extra oomph.

Seeing-the-World-Through-Purple-Tinted-Glasses

This pair of glasses will look good on just about anyone, and I was told I looked like Top Gun Tom Cruise when I wear them. I’m not sure about that, but hey, if you like Tom Cruise in Top Gun, then I’m okay with the comparison.

There’s nothing like the rush of getting signed up for an event that needs you to be set up three days ago. I love every minute of this stuff, though, so hopefully you folks enjoy the Vintage Faire. There’s a lot of neat stuff this year; something for everyone.

Young Girl, They Call Them the Diamond Dogs

Avatar-Bizarre---They-Call-Them-the-Diamond-Dogs

When I heard about a David Bowie inspired event in Second Life, my first thought was, “I hope they’re still taking applications!”. My second thought was, “Who cares? I’m applying anyway!” Then the third thought was, “Even if the event is full already, I’m still making this thing!”

It turns out I got in just under the wire for this event, and the item I had started to make while I was hoping to get into the event was coming together quickly and nicely. You see, I’m a huge fan of David Bowie, and I’ve been making Bowie inspired outfits in Second Life for years.

Only this time I had an actual excuse, other than typical fan boy stuff. Now it’s been sanctioned by an event with deadlines and everything.

Avatar-Bizarre---Come-out-of-the-garden,-Baby

InspirationsSL is an event that uses various celebrities as inspiration for merchants. This round excites me quite a lot, because Bowie is a constant source of inspiration for my own creations.

Avatar-Bizarre---No-one-else-I'd-rather-be

Diamond Dogs, inspired by Bowie’s Halloween Jack period (That short bit between Ziggy Stardust and Plastic Soul) is a fitted mesh creation, made for the SLink Physique bodies, though they do fit regular default Second Life avatars pretty well. There’s a male version, and a female/femboy version available, and both have been materials enhanced. Both come with a color HUD and an unrigged scarf.

To top things off, or maybe to bottom them off…they are boots after all, the Future Legend boots are sold separately, but were made to work with this outfit. The boots are fitted mesh and the package contains versions for both male, and female/femboy. The boots, like the outfit, have a color HUD and an alpha.

Avatar-Bizarre---When-You-Rock-and-Roll-with-me

Both of these items are available at the InspirationsSL event, opening on June 19.  A landmark will be posted in a few days.

Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair

At-the-corner-of-Haight-and-Ashbury

A long, long time ago, when rock music was still very young, a movement started in San Francisco. It was a time of protesting and change. War was ongoing in Vietnam. People were dodging the draft and heading to the Height in San Francisco.

As the song says, “If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.”

Hippies gathered in Golden Gate Park for sit ins, and love ins. The sound of music filtered through the air, along with the aroma of incense and peppermint (and pot, but who’s counting?)

Twisted Summer of Love is the Twisted Hunt Events inaugural Summer Event, and we chose the Summer of Love as the theme this year. With bright colors and psychedelic patterns, you can be sure there will be plenty of vintage clothing, furniture, and other nifty things for sale from the 60 or so merchants.

We are proud to be an official team member of the Relay Rockers this year.  They perform a Woodstock event for Relay for Life in Second Life every Summer, so this was a natural pairing.

The-time-has-come-today

Avatar Bizarre has several brand new items being released at the event. The Relay for Life items are a male and a female Dashiki Shirt with a color HUD.  The Dashiki, inspired by the African tunic, has a brightly colored pattern over black.  These are rigged mesh, and come in the standard sizes.  The color HUD includes seven colors!  The male shirt definitely works with the SLink male body.  I can’t vouch for the female version, though I assume both bodies share the same alpha HUD.

Lingering-in-Golden-Gate-Park

Avatar Bizarre is also releasing a pair of denim shorts with a peace sign on the right leg. These shorts can be worn with the Dashiki. They also include a seven color HUD, and 5 standard sizes.

Psychedelic-Man

In addition to the Dashikis and the Shorts, There’s a new Twiggy-inpsired mini dress, and Go-Go Boots with a color HUD. So come support Relay for Life, and hit this amazing new event!

You can get there from here.

Genre is a monthly event with a different theme each month. Each merchant provides a new item, to be priced at 100L or lower for the duration of the event. Under the Cherry Moon

Avatar-Bizarre-Cherry-Moon---Spaced-out

I’m a child of the 80s. I was entering high school just before Reagan began his second term in office, and since I wasn’t particularly into politics as a kid, I spent most of my free time scouring record stores for good new music, hanging out with the new wave kids, and generally living my life on the edge of whatever was considered fashion back then.

Avatar-Bizarre-Cherry-Moon-Portrait

Although I was more into 80s alternative, pop forty music was prevalent in my world. Part of that experience was the omnipresent Prince, later to be called The Artist, while he was having his little tiff with the record company that signed him. I have to admit that at the time I wasn’t a huge fan of Prince, though I did enjoy some of his music. I also thought Purple Rain was a pretty good movie. It was up there with all the John Hughes movies, and Labyrinth, as far as 80s great cinema.

No matter what anyone might have thought about Prince, he certainly was a Force of Nature. He could play all those instruments, and wrote some fantastic songs (mostly about sex). Thirty nine albums into his career, he shuffled off this mortal coil and left a giant purple Prince-sized hole in our collective psyche.

Avatar-Bizarre---Cherry-Moon---Nose-Dive.

As a DJ in Second Life, I have to admit that the Year of Tributes is wearing a little thin. We’ve lost a number of our teenage heroes; from Michael Jackson to Lemmy, Bowie to Prince. As a clothing maker, I felt the need to create a suit inspired by one of Prince’s most iconic outfits. He rocked the ruffles, and looked suave in high-waisted pants.

Avatar Bizarre’s Cherry Moon was made for those who wish to honor their fallen musical hero in some small way. Made for both the male and the female avatar, the jacket is on a color HUD (six colors), and is materials enhanced. It’s currently available inworld, and will be on the marketplace in a couple of days.
